The recent release of the Fortnitemares event has revealed a host of new characters arriving in the popular game. As this annual Halloween event consistently brings spooky fun to the battle royale, this year appears to be no different than any other. With this video release, Epic Games showcased the mix of licensed and original character skins coming this Thursday, October 9. Given fan reaction to the news, what favorite horror and pop culture icons will make land on the island?
For starters, the entire Mystery Inc. gang from Scooby-Doo, featuring Shaggy, Velma, Daphne, and Fred, will have a mystery on their hands with their grand arrival in Fortnitemares. Now that Halloween is around the corner, it only makes sense to add some scares, which is why Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th will be stalking the battlefield. Additionally, other additions include the unsettling Huggy Wuggy from Poppy Playtime and the iconic Ghostface from Scream.
In a surprising crossover, Fortnitemares will also feature the musician Doja Cat as a playable character. This exciting news has led to players having to learn everything they can to acquire all these new skins. Unfortunately, the details regarding whether they’ll be unlocked through Battle Pass challenges or direct purchases from the Fortnite item shop remain unanswered.
This new roster seems to be getting a warm welcome from the gaming community, joining a long legacy of frightening Fortnitemares guests. In past events, other featured characters included Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead and the Resident Evil heroes Chris and Jill. More than that, Ash Williams is also included in this lineup, as well as Michael Myers, and characters from The Nightmare Before Christmas. With such a storied history, could Epic Games also bring back some of these popular previous skins for purchase during the event?
Occurring at the same time as Fortnitemares, the KPop Demon Hunters event is still active after launching last week, introducing skins for the HUNTR/X band members: Rumi, Mira, and Zoey. Not only that, but the Horde Rush game mode makes its epic return to the game. However, this mechanic now features demonic enemies for players to fight. Given that these big events coincide with each other, how will players manage their time between both without missing anything? While all of this seasonal content unfolds against the backdrop of the standard Fortnite season, the battle royale continues to grow in anticipation, uninterrupted.
