While Animal Crossing fans eagerly await news about the next game in the series, they can show off their fan dedication by wearing the characters on their feet. Nintendo is teaming up with Crocs to put out special edition shoes based on the beloved franchise.
The Crocs are designed to resemble an Animal Crossing village, with light green grass and bright blue water. The straps also have a sky design with clouds and balloons, referencing how you can pop balloons in the games to find treasures. In addition, there will be sets of Jibbitz charms available to customize the shoes. The charms will include fan favorite characters such as Isabelle, K.K. Slider, and Tom Nook, along with famous game items like fruit trees and fossils.
People have learned to expect high prices from Nintendo after the Switch 2 price controversy. The adult size Crocs will cost a whopping $69.99 (the same price as Donkey Kong Bananza), and the kid size Crocs will cost $54.99. The Jibbitz charms are sold separately and will cost $16.99 for a pack of five. Individual charms of Rose, Marshal, and Bunnie will be available for $4.99 each. As you can see, Nintendo is hoping that fans will be dedicated enough to dish out high prices for the chance to wear Animal Crossing on their feet.
The shoes are adorable and Crocs are very comfortable and convenient with the way they can easily slip on and off. However, the notion of paying $70 and then paying extra for the charms feels a bit steep. Each Jibbitz set will also feature different charms, meaning you will have to buy multiple sets if you want all of them. Still, die-hard Animal Crossing fans with some cash to spare should get some enjoyment out of the shoes. The limited-edition Crocs come out on August 26.
