Are you looking for a friend in Animal Crossing: New Horizons who will make you happy when the skies are gray? The peppy sheep Wendy might brighten up your day. The Animal Crossing franchise—published by Nintendo, which has American subsidiaries in Washington—is known for its wide cast of characters. Villagers are integral to the series’ gameplay by offering daily tasks and friendship. This guide covers what you should know about one of these villagers, Wendy.

Wendy in Animal Crossing

Wendy is a light-brown sheep with blue wool first introduced in Animal Crossing: City Folk for the Nintendo Wii. The sheep species in Animal Crossing is mostly female, containing eleven of them versus five males. Wendy is currently the only sheep to have a peppy personality. Peppy villagers are bubbly in personality, if a bit airheaded, and are easy to befriend. Most of them have dreams of being pop stars, which Wendy shares. She sports a set of tiny buck teeth, reminiscent of other characters like Nibbles. The design of her face holds much in common with some of the other female sheep, most noticeably Baabara and Stella. Wendy’s birthday is August 15, making her a Leo.

Wendy’s name in English is likely a homophone with the word “windy.” Her original Japanese name, Mizore, translates to “sleet.” Combined with the rain-like quality of her wool, these suggest that the overarching theme of her design is weather-related. In New Horizons, the interior of her home by default features the “Snowflake Wall” wallpaper. Her favorite saying, “Every cloud has a silver lining,” also supports these precipitation-aligned interpretations. Despite the cloudy forecast her design suggests, Wendy’s personality and optimism shine like rays piercing a dark cloud. Acquiring this cloudy, little sheep may have you singing the blues. She is potentially a choice for the campsite’s random villager; when a villager visits the campsite, you can interact with them by playing minigames, which also opens the door to them joining your island. With the number of villagers in the game, the odds of this being Wendy are low. If you have her Amiibo card, the Nook Stop terminal in Resident Services grants another path. Using the Amiibo card will let you directly invite her to the campsite. Once she settles there, your goal is to craft specific items she requests. This must be done on 3 separate days before she will move in.

The Mystery Island Tours offer another opportunity to find the blue sheep. These Tours are initiated at the airport and require using Nook Miles Tickets. Should you have an empty lot, a villager can be found meandering on these islands and is eligible to be invited to your island. However, the character you will discover is random, as with the campsite. Take heed that you do not deplete your entire Ticket stash before delving into the Mystery Island method. The easiest way to find her is by using New Horizons‘ online capabilities to grab her from another player’s island she is leaving. When she’s in the moving process, you can speak with her and convince her to relocate to your island.

The Blues Won’t Defeat Me

Wendy is a dyed-in-the-wool dreamer sure to bring you smiles with her effervescent personality. Not everyone enjoys her design, but she is far from the worst of the game’s cast. While she does not quite reach the heights of other popular villagers, she is hardly the black sheep in her family. In fact, Wendy often ranks favorably relative to the other members of her species, though she pales comparatively to big bosses like Pietro and Dom. This means that should you desire her, haggling with another player should be relatively easy. If you do end up finding her, it won’t be long before happiness steps up to greet you.
