Alien: Rogue Incursion’s upcoming Evolved Edition is a massive enlargement of the franchise, bringing the immersive horror-action experience to non-VR players on PS5 and PC.
Coming out on September 30, 2025, this flatscreen edition promises enhanced graphics, “even deadlier” Xenomorph combat, and redesigned controls optimized for regular monitors and controllers.
Alien: Rogue Incursion is a single-player action-horror game developed by Survios, built on Unreal Engine 5, that was first released as a virtual reality exclusive on PS VR2, PC VR, and Meta Quest platforms on December 19, 2024.
The players are in the role of Zula Hendricks, an experienced colonial marine, and her synthetic companion Davis 01 as they venture into the overrun research complex on planet Purdan, battling constant Xenomorph attacks.
Survios and 20th Century Studios released the flatscreen version, subtitled Alien: Rogue Incursion Part One: Evolved Edition, as official in early May 2025. Breaking with its VR roots, the Evolved Edition remakes the game’s legendary shooter gameplay into controller and keyboard-and-mouse options, bringing combat and mobility equally accessible without a headset.
Gamers can pre-order the game for their PS5 or Steam wishlists immediately, with the standalone title available on September 30, 2025, as a one-time buy.
The narrative spotlight is on Zula Hendricks, dispatched with synthetic companion Davis 01 to investigate a distress signal at Gemini Exoplanet Solutions’ Purdan facility. After a catastrophic Xenomorph breakout, Zula is stranded, battling through deserted labs and dimly lit ventilation shafts to locate her missing colleagues and reveal the facility’s dark secrets.
The tightly interwoven story of the game expands the Alien franchise, bridging between events of the original films and the upcoming Disney+ series Alien: Earth.
Developer Survios, known for creating immersive VR content, hired former 20th Century Games executive TQ Jefferson to lead this project to recapture the tension of the films in an interactive experience.
Drawing inspiration from such classics such as the ever-popular Alien: Isolation and the action-packed Aliens, the dev team came up with Xenomorph AI, drawing their inspiration from the velociraptor movement in Jurassic Park that results in emergent combat scenarios challenging seasoned Horror shooters. There have been reports that VR owners might be receiving the Evolved Edition as a free update, though Survios has yet to make any announcement on this.
Alien: Rogue Incursion Evolved Edition will cost $29.99 for the Standard version, with a Deluxe Edition for $39.99, including two special armor sets and additional cosmetic enhancements. This is in line with other mid-range expansions, offering a comparatively affordable entry point for non-VR consumers while rewarding customers who opt for the deluxe content.
The release has generated excitement across gaming communities, with the majority of non-VR players pleased at no longer needing to have specialized hardware in order to appreciate the atmospheric horror of the game. Pre-order wishlists for Alien: Rogue Incursion on Steam and the PlayStation Store are quite strong, reflecting high demand among both hardcore fans of the series and new gamers.
Speculation that VR owners of Alien: Rogue Incursion might receive a free upgrade has also contributed to community chatter, highlighting the goodwill Survios has with its players.
Alien: Rogue Incursion Part One: Evolved Edition is a clever move by Survios to grow the game’s player base, providing gamers with a seamless, non-VR version of the game that retains the franchise’s iconic suspense and action. With a September 30, 2025, release date, enhanced mechanics, and community-driven updates, the Evolved Edition can be a must-play for Alien fans and horror-action gamers alike.
