If you’ve been waiting for an MMO that doesn’t drop you into yet another “chosen one” warzone or force you into grinding XP for armor that looks like a trash can, let us introduce you to BitCraft. Developed by Clockwork Labs, BitCraft is a sandbox survival MMORPG that’s about building, exploring, crafting, and, surprisingly, not screaming at your screen every five minutes.

BitCraft is set in a procedurally generated, single-shard world, where everyone plays on the same giant map and every action leaves a mark. You start out as a kind of mystical blank slate drifting through wilderness—and your job? Survive, build, and maybe become the mayor of a thriving city-state, if you’re into that.

It’s Not Just About Surviving—It’s About Shaping the World

Let’s break it down. BitCraft is not a class-based MMO. Instead, you progress by doing things—build, forage, trade, hunt, craft, and repeat. Want to be the best blacksmith in town? Cool. Want to just explore forests and rivers while trading fish and stories with other players? Even better.

Here’s what’s on offer:

  • Cooperative world-building: Team up to build villages, trade routes, or even full-on civilizations.
  • Player-driven economy: No gold drops here. You set the prices. You build the shops. You run the market.
  • Survival gameplay: Gather, hunt, and craft your way through a dynamic world filled with natural hazards and wild terrain.
  • A world that actually changes: The map evolves based on what players do—nothing stays static forever.
  • Early access on Steam: Launching June 20, 2025, with a gameplay preview coming May 29.

BitCraft’s Devs Are Going Full Open Source

In an unexpected move, Clockwork Labs is also open-sourcing BitCraft’s codebase. Yep, the devs want other creators and modders to actually use their work as a base, learn from it, or even build with it. That’s rare in MMOs, and it says a lot about how collaborative they want this game (and community) to be.

Final Thoughts

BitCraft isn’t trying to be the next combat-heavy meta-chaser. It’s aiming to be the MMO that feels like a shared storybook—where you build, shape, and evolve the world with other players. If you’re into survival games, city builders, or just want something peaceful but deep, this might be your next obsession.

We’ll be watching closely as early access kicks off May 29, 2025. For now, wishlist it, follow it, and maybe clear your calendars. Something chill this way comes.
