Crimson Desert is set to release in just a couple of days, and with all the concerns fans have expressed over the game’s performance on console, media outlet Digital Foundry has given us an exclusive look at Crimson Desert gameplay on PS5 Pro. Crimson Desert has been promoted to be an expansive open-world action-adventure, said to be an incredibly visually stunning game. Here’s what Crimson Desert looks like on the PS5 Pro, and what we can expect from gameplay and graphics once the game releases.
According to Digital Foundry, Crimson Desert will be playable on the PS5 Pro, and gameplay footage of the game was posted on Digital Foundry’s official X account. Initial reports show that the game runs pretty smoothly; however, the footage is only of the PS5 Pro version of the game. Digital Foundry noted that the ray-traced diffuse global illumination, which is the highlight of the PC version, works as intended on the PS5 Pro version, and all three graphics modes on PS5 Pro support ray-tracing.
The PS5 Pro version of the game offers performance mode, balanced, and quality mode, targeting 60fps, 40fps, and 30fps, respectively, with the game also targeting 1080p, 1440p, and 4K, respectively. However, it seems there were some issues with the game’s VRR support, as there is no low frame-rate compensation (LFC) support. And again, the footage was based on the performance on the PS5 Pro, so we still do not know how the game will run on other consoles like the Xbox Series S, which is less powerful than the PS5 Pro.
It was earlier this week that Crimson Desert developer, Pearl Abyss, announced the release of the game on console, and with the concern fans have expressed because the devs have added Denuvo DRM to the game’s Steam version, especially considering the performance issues it has been known to create, it understandable that fans also express worry over how the console version of Crimson Desert will run. I guess we will just have to wait and see how the game will run in just a few days.
Crimson Desert is the newest open-world action-adventure game by developer Pearl Abyss, and it has quickly become a highly anticipated game release in 2026. You play as Kliff, a non-customizable character on the continent of Pywel, as he rebuilds his mercenary faction, the Greymanes, after they’ve been killed off by the rival faction, the Black Bears. Throughout Kliff’s journey, he meets a few new friends who’ll accompany him on his journey to rebuild his faction and exact revenge on the Black Bears.
Crimson Desert is set to release on March 19, just a couple of days away. There has been a lot of hype surrounding this game, especially as an open-world action-adventure game. Fans have definitely expressed worry over whether their PC and consoles can handle this large a game (it’s 150 GB by the way, so make sure you have some room on your PC or consoles). Of course, that doesn’t take away from the hype surrounding this game.
Many players have been eagerly waiting for the release of Crimson Desert. The expansive open-world, the riveting and engaging story we’ll get to experience, all the action and cool animations, and the crisp-looking design of all the characters and the world of Pywel already have fans hooked on the game. The release of Crimson Desert is just a couple of days away, and I imagine many players will enjoy what the game has to offer.
