Gamescom just announced one of the biggest reveal trailers at the convention. Cronos: The New Dawn just unveiled their world premiere trailer, and fans are loving it! Cronos is a survival horror game that just released a new trailer for its latest game at Gamescom 2025. The trailer features snippets of gameplay, characters, monsters, and pre-order bonuses that will become available. Here’s a deep dive into what we saw from the trailer.
There was so much to unpack during this trailer. From what I gathered, we will be exploring new settings such as a hotel, a hospital, and a church, all of which look abandoned, all of which will house the creatures we must fight. The game is reported to be an abstract reinterpretation of a city in Poland, the Nowa Huta district in Kraków, and is set to two different timelines, “a post-apocalyptic future and the gritty industrial reality of the 1980s.”
The trailer also features a cat, seen in more than one shot, which makes it look like there is significance to this cat. It’s a little funny how much the cat shows up during the trailer, and I guess we’ll just wait and see how spot on my speculation is.
New characters were also introduced during the trailer, where we meet someone called the warden, who acts as our in-game guide throughout the main story of the game. This is probably the most significant character introduction, apart from the traveler, because of how frequent our interactions will be with the warden. He’ll be a looming figure with his own voice and perspective different from the traveler, similar to that of Virgo in Devil May Cry 5.
Probably the most important aspect of the game are the enemies we will be facing, the orphans, terrifying alien-like creatures who haunt the places we are set to explore. One of them almost got the cat at the beginning of the trailer. These mutated creatures are aggressive, relentless, and have to strange ability to merge with dead orphans, which makes them stronger and mutates them even more. A pretty cool feature of the game is the need to burn the dead bodies of these monsters to prevent them from merging. It makes the game a little harder but way more interesting than having them disintegrate into thin air.
Cronos: The New Dawn is a survival horror game set to release on September 5 of this year. It is available for pre-order now, with some pre-order bonuses players can receive, including 48-hour early access in the deluxe edition pre-order. It will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2, so make sure to get a copy to explore the post-apocalyptic world of Cronos: The New Dawn.
