Darkest Dungeon 2, the sequel to the acclaimed roguelike RPG Darkest Dungeon, is reaching its second anniversary. To celebrate, the game will receive a special Anniversary Edition on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch later this year, which will come with a bunch of extra goodies both physical and digital.

Darkest Dungeon 2

The first Darkest Dungeon captivated gamers with its emphasis on realism. In addition to getting killed by enemies, your party members can suffer from exhaustion, disease, and stress. Add permadeath and procedural dungeons to the mix and you’ve got a tough game, but that makes it more satisfying when you succeed. Darkest Dungeon 2 continued these traditions, and it also added a relationship system where your party members could build friendships or rivalries with each other.

The Anniversary Edition

The Anniversary Edition will be released later this year. It will include the base game, the Kingdoms expansion, three DLC packs, and a bunch of physical extras. Here is everything included, according to GameSpot:

  • Darkest Dungeon II base game and the Kingdoms Expansion (digital code)
  • Digital codes for The Binding Blade, The Inhuman Bondage, and The Infernal Supporter Pack DLCs
  • Steelbook case
  • Combat pop-up diorama
  • Papercraft replica of the stagecoach
  • Playing cards showcasing in-game characters (52-card deck)
  • Two digital soundtracks (original base game and new Kingdoms expansion)
  • Collector’s box

The Price

The Darkest Dungeon 2 Anniversary Edition will cost $100, and it is currently available for preorder on Amazon. With Trump’s tariffs causing price increases on consoles and accessories, the outlandish price doesn’t come as much a surprise. Still, one has to wonder if some paper extras are worth the extra money when you can wait for Steam to put the game, DLC packs, and soundtracks on sale. In today’s uncertain economy, collector’s editions might see a dip in sales.

Conclusion

Will the Anniversary Edition be worth it? That probably depends on how big a fan you are of Darkest Dungeon 2. If you get satisfaction out of displaying the diorama and stagecoach while playing with the character cards, you might want this. However, if you already own the game, the DLC packs, and the soundtracks, $100 will be a hard sell. You might want to save that money for a Nintendo Switch 2 instead.
