Dead by Daylight’s ninth anniversary at PAX East 2025 began with two of the world’s most blazingly anticipated crossovers in asymmetrical horror: The Witcher 3 and Five Nights at Freddy’s. Springtrap, a hail of animatronic terror voiced by Matthew Lillard, will haunt Survivors in a corrupted remake of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, and beloved Witcher faces Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri, Triss, and Eredin appear as cosmetic skins with original voice lines.

This pop-culture behemoth union is a milestone for Behaviour Interactive, expanding Dead by Daylight’s horror definition and gameplay scope, and introducing new thrills to both new and seasoned players alike.

Dead by Daylight’s most highly awaited crossover is finally realized with Springtrap, now referred to as “The Animatronic,” as a fully fleshed-out Killer, bringing the legendary Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 villain into The Fog. Voice actor Matthew Lillard reprises his 2023 film role to lend both likeness and voice menace to Springtrap’s Yellow Rabbit legendary skin.

The Animatronic’s Powers and Perks

Lethal Creator Jason Guzzo stressed realism, noting that he spent hours viewing Markiplier Let’s Plays to discover the tone and motion of Springtrap’s jump scares and hunter’s stride.

Although some abilities remain unknown, Guzzo’s top-down style implies that the animatronic creates terror through both stealthy ambushes and overall presence.

Survivors and Killers in Dead by Daylight alike may explore an accurately reimagined Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, complete with balloons, counters, and secret easter eggs that pay homage to the original creepy pizza parlor.

In an effort to preserve the claustrophobic fear of FNAF while operating within Dead by Daylight’s looping gameplay, Behaviour added a special queue for the FNAF map that allows players to immediately enter the creepy pizzeria rather than waiting through the normal map rotation.

With Springtrap, a beautiful Witcher 3-themed cosmetic set invites players to don the attire of Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri, Triss, Leshen, and Eredin. Legendary outfits include Geralt of Rivia for Vittorio Toscano with original voice lines by Doug Cockle, and a Leshen skin for The Artist, while rare cosmetics dress Yennefer, Ciri, Triss, and Eredin up in different Survivor and Killer forms.

Release Date and In-Game Events

The Witcher franchise premieres on June 3, 2025, with Chaos Shuffle event-themed rewards like the fan favorite “Geralt in the tub” player card and a luminescent wolf medallion charm.

Director Mathieu Côté reiterated how these collaborations allow players to “feel empathy” by seeing their beloved characters personified in-game, likening cosmetics to actual cosplay.

Community Reception and Gameplay Impact

The two crossovers reflect Dead by Daylight’s expanding horror universe, mashing up recognized brands to create its multiplayer game fresh. Fans expressed excitement on social media and forums to at long last get to witness the foreboding silhouette of Springtrap in The Fog, while Witcher fans enjoyed the touch in voice-overs and legendary player cards.

Quality-of-life updates that came with these crossovers ensure better matchmaking, cheating prevention, and better survivor choices so that the game’s mechanics stay in sync with its constantly expanding list of content.

Final Thoughts

Outside of FNAF and The Witcher, The Year 10 roadmap rumors imply “THE ONES WHO LIVE,” hinting at a new The Walking Dead spin-off co-op collaboration in the future. With Behaviour’s commitment to the blending of horror icons and the gradual improvement of gameplay, Dead by Daylight’s delving into The Fog has no intention of letting up.

Gamers who want to experience a taste of Springtrap’s jump scares and channel Geralt’s monster-slaying skills must mark their calendars: the FNAF chapter will arrive “soon” on PC and console, while the Witcher pack goes live on June 3, 2025. See you in The Fog!

Phillies’ 1.83 ERA starter drawing trade interest ahead of deadline

The Philadelphia Phillies have one of the best starting rotations in baseball. Not only do they have a great front five, but there goes, potentially, eight pitchers deep with MLB talent. Unsurprisingly, with such a surplus of talent, the Phillies are drawing trade interest in their starters. Ranger Suarez, whose contract expires at the end of the year, would be a typical trade deadline candidate. But he's going nowhere. Instead, according to Matt Gelb of The Athletic, the Phillies are drawing trade interest in Phillies right-handed prospect Mick Abel. The 23-year-old starter could be a trade chip if the Phillies find a suitable trade target. "... Same goes for Mick Abel," Gelb writes, "who is drawing trade interest." The Phillies right-hander has impressed in his brief Major League stint, even if he now sits at a 5.04 ERA in six starts. His ceiling, which he displayed in his MLB debut, is enough to captivate teams around baseball. In the minors, Abel has been dominant this season. He has a 1.83 ERA in 12 starts in Triple-A, a significant improvement over his 6.46 ERA in 2024. Abel's progress this season has been incredible, and has teams interested in trading for him. If the Phillies find a trade partner for an outfielder or a dominant reliever, Abel could be a centerpiece of a deal to land such a player at the deadline. With the crowded rotation, Abel might not have a starting role on the roster for the rest of the season. He could go to the bullpen for the postseason run or be dealt to land a high-profile reliever or outfielder. But, regardless of what the Phillies do with Abel, this report from Gelb is a good sign. If teams around baseball are interested in Abel, then his progress isn't just a facade; it's something teams are willing to buy in on.

Nationals OF makes Catch of the Year candidate to rob home run

Washington Nationals outfielder Jacob Young delivered a Catch of the Year candidate with a spectacular grab he made on Wednesday. Young’s Nationals lost 5-0 to the Cincinnati Reds at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, and the score could have been worse if not for Young. Will Benson was batting for Cincinnati with a runner on third base and two outs in the top of the eighth inning with his team leading 3-0. He belted a first pitch 96 mph fastball to deep center, but Young climbed the wall in center field to rob Benson of a 2-run home run. Here is a slow-motion version of the catch that shows Young climbing the wall to make the catch. What a catch by Young. Although Benson gave that pitch quite a ride, the metrics suggest it would have been a home run in only five MLB ballparks, so a flyout was an anticipated outcome. You just wouldn’t expect that ball to become an out in the manner that it did. Holy cow.

'If He Gets In, Take Me Out' – Minnesota Timberwolves’ Rudy Gobert Catches Wild HOF Stray From Shaquille O’Neal

Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert still has a huge hater in Shaquille O’Neal, as the latter believes that the four-time Defensive Player of the Year doesn’t deserve a spot in the Hall of Fame someday. O’Neal has called out Gobert for years, and the four-time NBA champion went so far as to request that he be removed from the Hall of Fame if the committee inducts Gobert. “If he gets in, take me out,” O’Neal said about Gobert on his YouTube channel. “Go in there and just rip my jersey out. I f***ing hate Rudy Gobert. Because f***ing making 250 (million dollars), he doesn’t deserve it. F**k that. I don’t care.” “As the President of the Big Man Alliance, you’re making big money, play like a f***ing big man, that’s it,” he continued. “Play like a f***ing big man. Throw some bows, knock some people out. Don’t be letting little white dudes from Denver dunk on you and then talk s**t to you. Then you’re going to grab them by the neck at the last second. Come on bro.” Minnesota Timberwolves News: Rudy Gobert plans to sit out the upcoming EuroBasket Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert will not play for the French national team in the upcoming FIBA EuroBasket, as he plans to recharge his batteries ahead of the 2025-26 NBA campaign. “I’ve had busy summers in recent years, and it’s taken a toll. People don’t always realize how intense the EuroBasket is,” Gobert said to L’Aisne. “It finishes just before the NBA resumes, and it’s a big responsibility. I had said I’d wait until the end of the season to decide, and now I have. This summer, I’m focusing on myself, my family, and my son,” he added.

Eagles' Jalen Hurts explains why he hasn't been spotted wearing Super Bowl ring

Pictures from the Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl LIX championship ring ceremony that took place on July 18 showed that quarterback and Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Jalen Hurts elected not to wear his new piece of jewelry during the event. While speaking with reporters at training camp on Wednesday, Hurts was asked why he wasn't spotted wearing his ring during the celebration. "I’ve moved on to the new year," Hurts responded, as shared by Martin Frank of the Delaware News Journal. "It’s as simple as that." For a piece published earlier on Wednesday morning, Brooks Kubena of The Athletic noted how Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni "avoids the word 'repeat'" while discussing the club's goals for the 2025 season. According to Kubena, Sirianni instead is repeating a mantra from a portion of a book that stresses "how marathon runners 'run the mile they’re in.'" It appears Hurts and others on the Eagles roster have embraced Sirianni's messages. "It was honestly surreal to see it in person," Hurts said about receiving the first Super Bowl ring of his career. "Almost, not nostalgic, but to see something that you’ve earned and have a moment to appreciate it one last time. It's kind of overdue in terms of when it was supposed to be initially. But it was a moment, and now that moment is behind us." It almost feels as if it were a lifetime ago when reports emerged last summer suggesting that Sirianni was on the hot seat, in part because his relationship with Hurts was allegedly "fractured" after the 2023 Eagles suffered a brutal late-season collapse. Sirianni deservedly received a contract extension this past spring, and it appears he's on the same page as his players early into training camp. "I came there only for the ring," Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown added about the ceremony. "I didn’t eat. I didn’t do anything. The whole ceremony was great. It was good to see some of our old teammates and talk to them, but that ring was speechless. I really enjoyed it. Trying to find a place, or something, to do with it." As of Wednesday afternoon, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Eagles third among the betting favorites at +700 odds to win Super Bowl LX. One wonders how Sirianni and Hurts would feel about the "repeat" word if the Eagles are once again the last team standing in February 2026.
