Dead Island 3 would be the next game coming out for the Dead Island series, and as a long-time and huge fan of the series, it will be on my top 10 most anticipated games. However, will it come out any time soon? Should we expect a trailer to drop suddenly at next year’s Gamescom or at the Game Awards at the end of the year? Here are all the juicy details of this game’s release and what gamers have to say about it.
The ending of Dead Island 2 had us fight a mutated Dr. Reed in a final showdown of the game. This fight leads to his daughter, Tisha, who is revealed to be a genetically modified human who carries the cure for the virus in her blood. Unable to accept or process all this information, she runs away. The ending of Dead Island 2 was pretty ambiguous, with whichever main character you choose to play deciding to stay in Hell-A instead of escaping with Sam, Emma, and Patton. This begs the question: Will the story continue in Dead Island 3?
The quick answer: No. However, according to a developer working on the game, Dambuster Studios is preparing for Dead Island 3 now. In an interview, the developing team for the game revealed that it has ‘set the stage’ for an eventual release of Dead Island 3, given how the second game closes out. Long-time fans have been through it, given the long wait we’ve had to endure between the first and second game, and we definitely don’t want a repeat of history.
The sad part is that there has literally been no news of the next installment in the time since Dead Island 2’s release. So, fans should not expect a Dead Island 3 in the coming year or anytime soon. I don’t believe we’ll have to worry about the development of the game changing studios like with Dead Island 2. The massive success of Dead Island 2 showed just how capable Dambuster Studios is with this game, and we can definitely expect more content from them, and hopefully a continuation of the second game.
