Bungie released the Epic Raid for Desert Perpetual in Destiny 2 two days ago. Many expected the encounters to stay mostly the same with some changes. The first three went as expected, but that would all change. The final boss, Koregos, is still here, but in a different arena with fresh mechanics. The encounter is one of the most complex in the entirety of Destiny 2, and we have a guide for how to succeed and time-travel to take down Koregos.
The final boss fight is entirely different. Players still fight Koregos, but in a new arena and with fresh mechanics. Each of the previous three bosses returns with a minigame that players must complete. The order you need to complete them is based on how you killed the bosses. Throughout the encounter, you will have a Worldline Stability timer; if it reaches the end, you wipe. The timer also represents the amount of time you have to damage the boss in the first two phases; once it ends, the boss resets the time. On every reset, you start at the spawn location and get a rally banner.
At the beginning of the encounter, the boss chooses two players to banish. Those two must run into a portal to become unbanished. From there, they must run to the other side of the room and kill a Cyclops. At the same time, outside players must kill a Cylops that has spawned near a portal. Once both are dead, the portal unlocks. During this time, the boss will choose players to banish. The other four players can interact with a Vex cube each.
The first phase does not involve completing a boss minigame. One player goes inside the portal with a laser after banishment ends. They must pick up a plate buff and have the Cyclops killed, just like before. Exit the portal and interact with the crystal. The glass around it will break, causing the boss to reset. During this time, players must look at the canisters around the boss to see the Chronon they need for the real phase.
Now that you know the Chronon color, you can proceed. The phase begins with banishment. Two players that you have assigned to do mechanics enter the laser portal. Inside, the players will see an Imp swarm. Killing that allows players to align with one of the outside canisters. You must align with the canister that has the Chronon you saw during the fake phase. It spawns a Wyvern that, when killed, drops four Chronons of your chosen colour. Deposit each Chronon in the ring and break the Vex cube to progress.
The inside players will now complete one of the bosses’ minigames. The order will differ, but for our case, we start with Hobgoblin. During this time, the boss has a laser on you, but you can hide underneath him, and you will be fine. One player must pick up the temporality buff. The player with the buff will see three eyes below the Hobgoblin. One will light up like in the Hydra encounter. Call out to your teammate which one it is, and they must break it. Repeat until all three eyes are destroyed. The boss is now damageable. Kill the Hobgoblin and exit the portal.
The two will now have the temporality buff. One of them must interact with the crystal to break the glass. Non-buff players destroy the crystal to start the damage phase. Once damage ends, look out for the Chronon color, and the boss will reset.
The players who killed Agraios will have a buff called Undoing of Agraios. They can damage the Hobgoblin that spawns around the boss. Do this quickly, and whoever gets the final blow receives a temporality buff. Break the crystal in the same manner you did before. The phase continues as before, but instead, you will now go into the Hydra minigame.
Kill the Imp, dunk Chronons, and begin the minigame. One must pick up the temporality buff. That player stands in the light from the Hydra. They look at the three portals and call which two are blue. The other player looks for a blue portal in common and then interacts with a vex node on top of the portal. You can now damage the boss. Repeat the same process as before and deal damage to Koregos. Ensure you note the Chronon before reset.
Continue the same process as before, but this time players will have two undoing buffs. Assign one player per boss, kill it, and break the crystals. During the Wyvern minigame phase, both players must get the temporality buff. Shoot the Vex boxes as you would during the Wyvern encounter. Keep in mind that every time you break a box, you will spawn Vex seekers. Complete three sets and kill the Wyvern. Once you have broken the crystal, damage happens in a different spot.
The boss has teleported behind the rally flag. To start, damage players must pick each plate buff. Assign as many players as you want for the buffs, but at least one player must not have a buff. Where you stand during damage does not matter. Crystals will periodically spawn that must be broken to extend the phase. Every time a crystal is broken, one player at random loses their buff. Continue until the phase ends.
The final phase is entirely different. Here, you only need a damage loadout. All players must head to the final portal. Kill the harpy to unlock the portal. Once inside, everyone gets the banishment debuff. Six Vex nodes on six platforms spawn until you reach the boss. One player must interact with each node to lose their debuff. Assign any order you want to use.
On the platform, random players are assigned temporality buffs. Break the three crystals and deal damage to the boss. During the phase, crystals will respawn; break them to continue. After each break, the boss will change which mechanic he uses from previous encounters. The order is based on how you killed the bosses. There is a final stand bar, but nothing changes; keep damaging the boss until he dies. Jump off the platform to prevent a wipe.
