Destiny 2 Desert Perpetual Raid Changes Cause a Stir

The recent Destiny 2 TWID divulged information about the raid space in the game. The predominant focus was on the Epic Raid for the Desert Perpetual. The Epic Raid is set for September 20, 11 days after the release of the Ash and Iron Update. The Epic Raid will have a Contest Mode and competition for World’s First, but some of the notes have angered the Destiny 2 community.

Destiny 2 Epic Raid Might Cause Problems

The Desert Perpetual Epic Raid Contest Mode will be active for 48 hours, as with the previous raid race. Players clearing each encounter for the first time on Contest Mode will be awarded tier 5 loot. Completing the raid rewards players with an exclusive emblem, the raid Exotic, and its catalyst. CBGray and EvanF are back in the Bungie Studios to bring RaidZone for the race.

The two significant differences between the Epic Raid Race and the initial race are the addition of Not Swap, Featured Gear, and Seasonal Mods. Not Swap itself is receiving updates. It is becoming more punishing on players who swap Exotic or Legendary Armor or weapon ammo types. If players do, you will lose all Super and ability energy, Special Ammo, Heavy ammo, and all ammo and orbs on the ground will disappear. Not Swap will be active in the Contest mode when you have at least three feats active on the Epic raid standard difficulty. The change has caused an uproar in the community, with many wondering why they made the modifier worse when they already disliked it.

Destiny 2 Players Are Getting More Raid Rewards in Ash and Iron

Bungie is increasing rewards from the Desert Perpetual Raid with the Ash and Iron update in Destiny 2.

  • Completing all three bosses before Koregos earns an extra piece of gear.
  • Two weekly challenges are coming to the raid
    • Completing one gives an extra reward for the first clear of each encounter
    • Completing the first challenge unlocks the second challenge, which grants bonus loot from the Epic raid.
    • The loot from the challenges has bonus Seasonal Poers and will drop at a higher tier based on active feats
  • All gear from Desert Perpetual will drop at tier 2 in the standard version and tier 3 in the Epic raid
    • Combined Mastery Triumph removed
  • Added a chance for all gear earned during a full clear to drop at up to +2 from base tier
    • Feats increase chances
  • Completing the Map and Compass quest, as well as the Epic Raid, gives players a new quest at the Simulant Ansible
    • Quest completion allows players to attune to any previously unlocked gear from the raid.
