Destiny 2 Edge of Fate Exotic Changes Unease the Player Base

Since the Edge of Fate embargo was lifted for content creators, there has been plenty of information on legendary armor. However, little was said about Exotic Armor in the 3.0 universe. The most recent TWID changed that as Destiny 2 developers dived deeper into the changes for Exotic Armor. Not all of the changes have been well-received by the community, with many worried that Bungie has missed its mark.

Destiny 2 Transitioning Exotics to 3.0

All current Exotic Armor that players have will have their stats ported over during the Edge of Fate. It is a 1:1 conversion. However, all new Exotic Armor that drops in the expansion will use the Armor 3.0 system. The Exotics will receive the new masterwork system, drop with full energy, and have their stats determined by archetypes. Unfortunately, the Exotics will not have gear tiers (likely only added after the Year of Prophecy ends). Instead, all Exotic armor in the Edge of Fate will drop at Tier 2 gear stats (58-63). While it seems like a significant drop-off, once masterworked, their stats should align with the current Exotic armor stats.

Exotic Class Items are being transitioned to the Armor 3.0 system. They will receive stat packages based on their perks. The left column perk determines the archetype, while the right column will pick the tertiary stat. All Class Items stats will function nearly identically to legendary gear, with the primary stat getting 30, the secondary 20, and the tertiary 13. The archetype of the class item determines the primary and secondary stats. The one tradeoff is that Exotic Class items will lose their Artifice Armor mod slot. New and old Class Items will receive these changes in the Edge of Fate.

Gear Swapping

Since the changes to Sanguine Alchemy to give Warlocks four weapon surges while standing in any rift, it has been a mainstay in their arsenal. Players will drop a Well of Radiance and then swap to their specific Sanguine loadout with an equipped super to match their Heavy Weapon. Bungie is nerfing this playstyle so that the Sanguine perk only activates after ten seconds of swapping.

Featured Exotics

Bungie has given a list of all the Featured Exotic Armor and Weapons coming in Edge of Fate. It will function similarly to New Gear. It will increase damage reduction and weapon damage.
