Destiny 2 Epic Raid Information Better Late than Never

Bungie is attempting to run an Epic version of a raid for the first time in Destiny 2 history. At this time, we do not know the significant difference with the Epic Raid of Desert Perpetual. Players’ preparation is well underway, and they have been waiting for the updated gear ban list to be released. That only came a couple of days before the Epic Raid release, with players not having much time to adjust strategies. Bungie also announced a change that has upset players, coming so close to launch.

Destiny 2 Banned Gear List

In the recent TWID, Bungie announced the gear that is banned for the Desert Perpetual Epic Raid Contest Mode. More gear can be added to the list between now and the raid’s launch. Bungie will announce any additions on its social media platforms. The banned gear list is:

  • Bastion Exotic Fusion Rifle
  • One-Two Punch Perk
  • Haliaetus Legendary Rocket Launcher
  • Lightweight Legendary Swords
  • Ergo Sum Exotic Sword

Bungie Removes Featured Gear

Originally, Bungie announced that bonuses from Featured Gear and Seasonal mods would work in the Contest Mode. However, they have reverted the addition of the Featured Gear bonuses. It means the weapon damage and damage resistance bonuses from the Featured Gear will not work. The Seasonal Mods remain active. The proximity of this change has caused outrage in the community. Players must now adjust their strategies just days before the launch. If the revert had come days before, players would not have had complaints.

Destiny 2 NotSwap Controversy Continues

Bungie added NotSwap during the Rite of the Nine event before the Edge of Fate release. At the time, players have complained that the system does not impact loadout swapping in a conducive and positive manner. Since then, Bungie doubled down, making players lose ammo and orbs on the ground. It got worse than that after players tested the new Not Swap in Gambit and discovered it applied when your stats change. Player initially expected it to be a bug. The Destiny 2 Team clarified that it is intentional: “To provide some clarification for NotSwap: any stat value change — including from armor mods — is considered an Armor Swap.”

The change and lack of earlier clarification have added further fuel to players’ distrust of Bungie. Saltagreppo pointed out that players will now “play this weird hybrid where you still do 3/4 swaps x phase but you sit on the same stats.” He also noted that it would be better to have locked loadouts when triggering NotSwap.

Destiny 2 Epic Raid Requirements and Rewards

Destiny 2 Players must meet multiple requirements to participate in the Contest Mode of the Desert Perpetual Epic Raid:

  • All players need to own The Edge of Fate Expansion.
  • Completion of the Desert Perpetual base version (fireteam leader only).
  • A fireteam of six players is needed to launch the activity.
    • Players who wish to play the raid with fewer than six players will need to start the raid and then have other players leave the activity.
  • Fireteam Power is disabled, and players are recommended to be at least 300 power to prevent dealing less damage and receiving increased damage from combatants.

Rewards and Loot

All loot that drops from a player’s first clear of the Contest Mode drops at Tier 5, with each subsequent run dropping at Tier 4. The World’s First team will receive a custom-designed raid belt, while all players who complete the Epic Raid before December 5th at 9:59 AM PT become eligible to purchase the Epic Raid Ring.
