The June 9th update brings tiered loot to every raid and dungeon in Destiny 2. Each one will see their weapons get a loot refresh and an individual armor set. The armor sets come with their own set piece bonuses. Garden of Salvation is a controversial raid in Destiny 2, with many avoiding it. However, the loot has always been good, meaning the refreshed pool should be even better for Destiny 2 players.

Garden of Salvation: Loading Into the Raid

As soon as you load into the Garden of Salvation, you will spot a large portal. Have everyone head over, and a bunch of Vex will spawn. Clear out all the enemies and go through the portal into the Black Garden. Run forward until you reach the first encounter.

Garden of Salvation: Evading the Consecrated Mind

Split your team into two groups of three. The first group will stay in the original room, while the other group proceeds forward. Starting the encounter requires you to create a tether to open the door. There are two vital mechanics for this encounter.

  • Picking Up Voltaic Overflow
  • Tethering to Boxes to open doors

Each team will swap between these mechanics. At the start, group one will pick up Voltaic Overflow. Periodically, the Consecrated Mind will move around the area and drop a Vex Cube. One player must pick up the Overflow to prevent a wipe. After you pick it up, you will have a 2:30-minute debuff timer. During this time, picking up more Overflow will kill the player. As a result, have an order for when you pick up the Overflow. The boss will spawn a new one every sixty seconds or so until the next door opens.

At this time, group two makes their way to the next door. Kill the Angelic to open the tether box. Tethering is an easy mechanic, but it requires some coordination. Shooting the box creates a tether to the nearest player. Stand near your teammate to create a chain. If you see a red line, the tether is still attached but is about to break. Open the door as quickly as possible.

Once the door opens, the boss will teleport to you. Group 1 now leapfrogs group 2 and heads into the second room to start opening the door. Group 2 focuses on picking up Overflow. Once the next door opens, Group 2 can move through. Here, there are three boxes that you need to tether to open the door. Start from right to left.

Once the door is open, you enter the final stretch of the encounter. Plenty of Overload Champions and Cyclops spawn. Move quickly as you take the enemies down. The boss will spawn three more Voltaic Overflows. Have any players without the debuff pick one up in order. Be careful as you move through; the boss will teleport and kill you if you are on top of it.

Garden of Salvation: First Traversal Section

After the encounter ends, head forward and drop down. You will find yourself in a large area with Vex fauna. Hug the right side as you move. Shooting the green flowers opens them up, creating a temporary platform. As you jump across, be wary of moving objects in the wall that will knock you away. The entrance to the next encounter is in the middle on the opposite side.

Garden of Salvation: Summon the Consecrated Mind

Once again, you want to assign players to a specific role. For this encounter, you will have four defenders and two runners. Assign each runner a number based on the pylons. How you number them is up to you. Our example is:

  • Starting Pylon = 1
  • Left Pylon = 2
  • Opposite Side Pylon = 3
  • Right Pylon = 4

When the encounter starts, players should move to their respective pylons. The third player can choose to run left or right at the start. Personally, we sent that player. Send one runner to each side to help clear and tether.

Now for the mechanism for this encounter. Tethering to the box on the pylon causes any player in the chain to become Enlightened. Being Enlightened allows you to break the shields of some of the Vex enemies. At each pylon, there will be an Angelic that you must kill to open the box.

Runners must rotate between the pylons to keep everyone Enlightened. Rotate roughly every 15 seconds. Left runner moves between 2 and 3, right runner between 1 and 4. The runner is necessary because you can not tether solo. Periodically throughout the encounter, three Angelics spawn at a pylon. They will only appear once at a pylon, leading to four spawns in total. Once all Angelics die and the enemy wave ends, the barriers drop. Everyone must run to the center.

The loop is the same: kill Angelics, become Enlightened, kill Vex. Be wary of Supplicants as they can catch you by surprise. After killing enough Angelics, the encounter ends.

Garden of Salvation: Defeat The Consecrated Mind

The third encounter starts where the second one ends. Tethering to the pylon starts the encounter. Split into two groups of three for this encounter:

  • Group 1 – Gambit Team
  • Group 2 Eyes Team

Gambit Team

If you have played Gambit at any point, the mechanic is the same. Instead, this time you are killing a specific enemy. Only Minotaurs spawn motes when they die. Each Minotaur spawns five motes at a time. Player one in the group picks up five motes and runs to the active pylon on the outskirts. You can see which one it is by a beam in the sky. The reason the first player picks up five initially is that enemies will start sacrificing. If you are fast enough, they can pick up the first ten, but that is not a recommendation.

Player one must now defend the pylon from the Vex enemies thanks to their Enlightened buff. Player two should start collecting motes as soon as possible and head over. Once player two reaches the pylon, player one can head back to the middle. Player three picks up their three and runs to the pylon. Player one only needs five more for a total of thirty. Once you deposit all thirty, it will trigger the next phase. Two notes:

  • Minotaurs spawn towards the center in one of the lanes
  • Vex sacrifices knock off your motes, meaning you will need to collect more if they sacrifice

Eyes Team

During most of the encounter, the Consecrated Mind will hover around the middle, firing at you. At points, he will start moving towards one of the sides. The eyes team follows him. He will drop the Volatic Overflow from the first encounter. Assign a pickup order. The player who picks up the Overflow will become rooted, and their screen changes. The boss exposes his eyes to all three players, but only the buff player can see the glowing ones. There are two sets: inner and outer. It is your job to call if it is inner or outer. Your teammates should shoot one of the eyes based on your call. The process we use:

  • Buff player – shoots top
  • The second and third players call one eye that is not the top eye

He will continue to do this until the mote team has filled up the pylon.

Damage Phase

Once you fill the pylon, the boss will move towards it. All players should make their way there. Once the boss arrives, he will expose all his eyes. Break all of them to begin damage. The Consecrated Mind will move backwards during this phase. You have to move with him. Barriers will spawn, blocking your path if you are too slow to follow. Repeat the previous process until he dies.

Garden of Salvation: Second Traversal Section

After the encounter ends, return to the middle. Jump across the moving platforms to the encounter chest. Continue forward until you reach a portal and turn left. Follow the path until you reach a windmill. You have two options. Either take the jumping path to your left, or try to ride the windmill to the top. If you take the windmill, hug the edge, and nudge forward to prevent you from falling off. Once at the top, hug the right side. Jump onto the leaves and use the temporary platforms to reach the other side. Continue along the right side. If you follow the path, you will reach the final encounter.

Garden of Salvation: Defeat the Sanctified Mind

The Sanctified Mind is the final encounter in the Garden of Salvation. For this encounter, split yourself into three teams:

  • Team 1 – First Motes Team
  • Team 2 – Second Motes Team
  • Team 3 – Builders

There is a handful of pylons at the front of the arena. Only two are active at a time. There is one on the left side, and one on the right. The pylons will glow a colour based on the side they are on:

  • Blue = Left Side
  • Orange = Right Side

Motes Team

The Sanctified Mind has two weak spots, one on the left knee and the other on the right shoulder. They have a colour corresponding to their side. Breaking the weak spot creates a portal. Start by breaking the left weak spot. Team 1 jumps through and teleports to the left platform. Vex enemies spawn. Kill all of them and pick up their motes. Be careful, some motes may launch off the map or get stuck in the ground. The enemies that spawn will alter how many motes you get. By default, it is 15 motes, but if there are Harpies, it increases to 18.

Once team 1 has all their motes, they call out that they are ready. Break the weak spot again to teleport them back. At this time, team 2 should head into the portal. Once team 1 returns, they must deposit their motes at the blue pylon. Doing so gives them the Enlightened buff and starts spawning the shield Vex. That team focuses on clearing the Vex until team 2 returns. You need 30 motes total per pylon to charge it, as long as no Vex sacrifice. Once team 2 returns, team 1 can head through the right portal and repeat the process.

Building Team

While the other teams collect motes, the building team stays by the boss. Every time you create a portal, a cyclops spawns, and the boss removes a platform, exposing you to more Vex milk. If you are on a platform when the boss destroys it, you will die. The building team must kill every cyclops that spawns and rebuild the platform. You rebuild the platforms through tethering.

Damage Phase

Once you fill the pylons, or after enough time passes, the boss will initiate the damage phase. He will show a plus sign in one of the two colors. The color tells you which pylon you must use to tether to him. Before you can tether, Angelics spawn that you must kill to open the boxes. Ideally, use four players to tether, while the other two wait. Then tether to him with the other pylon. Whenever he rises in the air, you can deal damage to the boss. Repeat the process until the boss dies and you have completed the Garden of Salvation raid.
