The Destiny 2 Portal was never going to be perfect on its release. It has faced plenty of problems. Bungie has tried to fix the issue. It has often been one step forward, two steps back. The recent changes that Bungie announced during the TWID yesterday are taking us on an ideal path. We are slowly getting closer to where the Portal should be.
The Desert Perpetual Raid is receiving numerous changes to increase the rewards that Destiny 2 players gain. Bungie has continuously improved this aspect. Players are now incentivised for completing multiple runs of Desert Perpetual in the same week for more than just a chance at getting the Exotic. The Epic Raid release on September 27th will see numerous changes.
Two Weekly Challenges
The first can be completed in either version of the raid. The second unlock, after completing the first challenge, can only be completed in the Epic Raid. Destiny 2 Players will earn gear with upgraded tiers and Seasonal Power
Gear Drops
From the launch of Epic Raid, all drops from the Desert Perpetual Raid will be at least Tier 3. Additional feats will increase the chance of an upgrade. The upgraded gear has a chance of dropping with a boost to Seasonal Power.
Full Clear Reset
Every time Destiny 2 players clear all encounters of the Desert Perpetual Raid, they reactivate the powerful drops for all encounters, relock hidden chests, and reactivate the Full Clear bonus chest from Koregos.
The Power drops that players receive from completing Solo Ops, Fireteam Ops, and Pinnacle Ops are getting increased in the patch on October 14th. Crucible Ops and The Desert Perpetual raid will receive similar changes at a later time. At almost all levels, players will receive an increase of at least one Power based on the score they earn.
Bonus Engrams
In the same update on October 14th, all bonus engrams that drop from Portal activities will grant an increase in Power based on your score at the end.
Portal Difficulty Tuning
Bungie is removing challenge modifiers, increasing the Power Delta on activities. Instead, they are adding delta caps to each level of difficulty. Players can not overlevel for activities, but it should make it less punishing for players wanting to reach A tier without increasing the difficulty of their activity dramatically. The delta caps are:
The Matchmaking and Quickplay options will keep fixed Power levels, but are adjusted to the same values. These modes are receiving specific updates to give players a better chance at completing the activities.
Conquest Difficulty Tuning
The Conquest difficulty tuning will remain separate, as they are intended as a pinnacle activity.
Catch up Chest
The update will also introduce a catch-up chest for Destiny 2 players. The gear provided will be at 300 Power and an amount of Unstable Cores. If you are above 300, you will get a powerful upgrade instead.
