DLC can make or break a game. DLC is short for downloadable content. It allows for a longer game and a more enhanced overall experience–and more fun content for the user. But, there are some really great games out there that are marred by bad DLC. I chose a few to mention notably because the games themselves are really great even if the DLC isn’t that good.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderland is a fun game, but the DLC is not. It costs $10 for each piece of DLC and $20 for all of the content, but only adds one new boss and a single dungeon.
Dues Ex: Mankind Divided is primarily a single-player game, but features a mode called Breach, which is arcade-styled, and you can compete with other players online. It is an action role-playing game. This game is criticized for its short length and incomplete story.
The Sims is a wildly popular game and has a lot of downloadable content. The game in general is criticized for its inconsistency–and the DLC here is no exception. Some expansion packs offer new worlds, while others only offer a few pieces of clothing for $10.
The Elder Scrolls is another widely popular game. The downloadable content here isn’t much. For $2.50 all you get is some decorated armor for your horse.
Destiny provided some great new content, but in the process, they locked players out of old content. The DLC here completely changes the content of the game. The players without it were thus locked out of content they were previously able to access.
The downloadable content here feels mostly like recycled content. There is extra lore, and you are able to play as Aqua and Riku, but it costs half the price of the game.
These games are all great in general, but be wary of these DLCs as they are expensive in general and don’t have much to offer in the way of gameplay.
