Elden Ring Nightreign is reaching high numbers leading up to its release. Players are getting their weapons and flasks ready and preparing to get immersed in 3-player co-op adventures. Elden Ring Nightreign’s Guardian class is a tank-style character. He has the ability to lead the charge on expeditions as well as support teammates. This kit includes a more specialized approach to the knight-style fighter with great defensive abilities. Those familiar with tank characters in other games will thrive as the Guardian, and teammates will love them in Elden Ring Nightreign for leading the vanguard.

Guardian Class Skills and Starting Gear

The Guardian class is a specialized melee build, essentially. He specializes in stamina and has the highest HP of all the starting characters. Elden Ring Nightreign players who chose the Guardian will want to build around HP, stamina, and strength, as all other attributes are more or less not worth the investment. This is intentional, though, as Guardian players who stick to their role can make the best use of shields in Elden Ring Nightreign.

The Guardian’s passive ability, Steel Guard, allows them to get into a guard stance with a shield equipped, making it so attacks blocked by shields no longer deplete stamina. The Guardian also comes with the Whirlwind skill, which not only deflects lightweight projectiles but also draws in nearby enemies. The Guardian’s ultimate art is called Wings of Salvation, which allows the player to take flight for a few seconds. The Guardian will then dive back down toward the ground with a crashing attack, which can be charged to also provide a damage shield to allies nearby.

Optimizing Your Build in Elden Ring Nightreign

Every expedition in Elden Ring Nightreign benefits greatly from having a Guardian on the team. Being able to absorb damage from attacks and helping allies with support abilities will prove invaluable, despite the rest of your team composition. Ideally, one good trait to look out for in any run is any relic that improves attack power after taking damage.

Grand Burning Scene is also a good relic to go for as it reduces skill cooldown and allows the Guardian player to recover HP from successfully guarding attacks. The reason why I call the Guardian a specialized build is that you mainly just want to focus on HP and stamina, regardless of how luck factors into your run. You will find, as you experience Elden Ring Nightreign, that the better a Guardian can fit into and stick to their role as a tank, the better. The optimal Guardian build is simply true to the name.

Final Thoughts

Elden Ring Nightreign’s tank class is aptly named and ready-made for support players who also like to be at the forefront of the action. Guardian players who can allow teammates to thrive in their roles will, in turn, reap the rewards, as well as often winning the moral favor of teammates whom they protected from danger. This can also be a great class for experienced players to give reliable balance to specialized teams.  The Guardian’s strong attributes and ease of use make it a staple choice for most parties as they uncover the secrets of Elden Ring Nightreign.
