Each console generation has a handful of titles that epitomize the era. From GoldenEye and Ocarina of Time for N64 to Bloodborne and Red Dead Redemption II for the PS4, it’s always fun looking back on what games defined a period of video gaming history. Undoubtedly, the early 2000s gave us three of the best consoles in history in the PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, and original Xbox. And while each had their standout proprietary titles, one big game spanned all three and continues to delight. The Simpsons: Hit & Run. Easily the best Simpsons video game, it was challenging and funny in equal measure.
But sadly it never had a spinoff. Not officially anyway. But that doesn’t remain the case with the frankly incredible looking fan mod, Futurama Hit & Run.

We saw this via IGN. This real, playable fan mod brings you to New New York to control Philip J. Fry as he traverses the streets to complete tasks for Planet Express coworkers Professor Farnsworth, Dr. Zoidberg, and of course Bender. The mod, by LycheeMoona, is both supremely faithful to the original video game and full of loving visual references for the Futurama fans out there. You all should be one. That show was great.
Now, this mod currently has four story missions but the team is working on more. The demo also comes with an acknowledgement that it currently uses AI-generated dialogue as a “temporary placeholder.” The mod team states: “Professional voice artists are already engaged, and their recordings will replace the placeholder content in a future update.”
The mod is currently available for download, but you’ll need a PC copy of The Simpsons: Hit & Run through which to run it. We applaud this level of commitment to 22-year-old game modded to reflect a 26-year-old cartoon.
