With games like Genshin Impact, Zenless Zone Zero, Honkai Star Rail, and Wuthering Waves, free MMOs are often far and few between. Not everyone is keen on the subscription service of more popular MMOs such as Final Fantasy XIV and World of Warcraft. The following games are free MMOs with a relatively slight learning curve, similar to Crystal of Atlan, another hit MMORPG. The primary requirement to play these free MMOs is often a PC that can meet the system requirements.

In recent years, the experience system has not been as brutal, and one can reach level 120 with ease. The pixel art was updated in recent times, but it’s still adorable.

MapleStory has several classes to choose from. From the original five Explorers – Warrior, Pirate, Thief, Magician, and Bowman – to the Cygnus Knights and special classes only available for certain times of the year. This game is available on Steam.

2. Dragon Nest

Dragon Nest is another MMO developed by Nexon. It was published by Eyedentity Games. The game was released in 2013 for PC, and many people still play it to this day. Like MapleStory, this MMO has adorable graphics and a pay-to-look-pretty system. The game is currently on Steam, and it has mostly positive reviews.

3. Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis

This game is notorious for its vanilla version being region-locked in Japan. The game currently has Mixed reviews on Steam, and it is also available on Xbox, PlayStation, and the Epic Games store. Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis often has collaborations with other video games or anime. If you’re currently playing this game, keep an eye out for any crossovers.

4. Dungeon Fighter Online

Another Steam MMO, Dungeon Fighter Online, or DFO, is an MMO that mixes beat ‘em up action with RPG elements. To date, there are at least 17 classes to choose from. The game recently had a fighting game adaptation titled DNF Duel. DNF Duel is based on the game’s overseas title, Dungeon and Fighter.

People into PC gaming might have played an MMO or two in their younger days. Many MMOs have come and gone. Playing MMOs can lead to new friendships and money saved on not spending it on a subscription-based game. Free MMOs often bring a better experience than most high-budget single-player games.
