Halloween: The Video Game made headlines when the announcement trailer was revealed 2 months ago. The official game adaptation of this classic horror film has excited both the horror fandom and gamers. During the past Halloween, to celebrate the release of this new game, IllFonic and Gun Interactive, the developers of Halloween: The Video Game, revealed new single-player details for the game. Here are all the details we currently know.

Halloween: The Video Game

The game will set you right in the middle of the first film, on Halloween night in 1978, in Haddonfield. Players will either get to play as Michael Myers (The Shape) or as the unsuspecting residents or Heroes of Haddonfield, and fight off this evil during the spookiest night of the year. The announcement trailer described this as a single-player and multiplayer horror experience, with an option to show the events of the first film through the perspective of Michael Myers. This has really got fans pumped for its release early September next year.

Single-Player Story Mode

This past Halloween, the devs at IllFonic and Gun Interactive released new details on the single-player story mode of the game. According to the devs, the story will focus on Michael after escaping Smith’s Grove Sanitarium. Players will experience the Night He Came Home “from an entirely different perspective.” The story mode will feature some of the most iconic scenes from the first film, as well as new locations and scenes to introduce the new cast starring as the Haddonfield residents in the game.

Also, according to the devs, IllFonic wants to deliver a “compelling and authentic” Halloween single-player experience that “matches the meticulous cadence of the original film while empowering players to help shape the narrative.” The devs also encourage replayability within players by introducing multiple difficulty levels, side quests, secret collectibles, and even multiple endings, which can change depending on the player’s choices throughout their playthrough. Halloween: The Video Game is set to release on September 8, 2026, on PS5, Xbox Series, and Steam, and we should expect more trailers and updates until then.
