The Girl of Resident Evil Requiem is the first monster Grace encounters at the Rhodes Hill Care Center. She acts as the main obstacle antagonist for Grace or any being unfortunate enough to cross paths with her. Grace must find a way to escape Rhodes Hill without getting caught, killed, and eaten by this stalking huntress.

Requiem Briefing: The Girl (Marie)

Once called Marie, this creature is the result of Victor Gideon and his research group’s experiments. She’s a towering deformed ghoul that feeds on human flesh, regular and zombie. With massive teeth, elongated feet, and long hands, she stalks the hallways of Rhodes Hill on the lookout for anything that catches her eye. Despite having a buggy and grey eye, she can see fine, especially in the dark. Her grey skin melds with her dirty gown, and long black hair sprouts along the seams of her stitches.

Due to her height, she’s always slouching over and can’t sprint as quickly as Grace can; however, that’s only a minor setback. Her real talent shines when she decides to climb inside the ceiling. Multiple holes in the ceiling are scattered around the building, allowing her to climb inside or drop out wherever she wants to go.

Grace doesn’t have much firepower and has a scarce supply of bullets and melee weapons lying around. It’s best to go on the defensive with the ghoul, and the best way to do so is to retreat to a room flooded with light. The Girl is weak to light, causing her skin to sizzle and melt when she’s exposed. Another way can be to misdirect her by throwing glass bottles away from your location, especially if she’s lurking in an area or path you need to explore.

Stealthing: Defense in the Rhodes Hill Care Center

Before you face off against the thing, the initial encounters mostly have Grace rely on stealth and defensive strategies to evade the ghoul. While searching for the fuse to unlock the gate to the main lobby, Grace must use the well-lit areas to deter the Girl. In the underground, she can move into crawl spaces that the ghoul can’t fit through. If there are no safe spaces to run to, glass bottles can be used to misdirect her away from Grace.

The Requiem: Offense in the Water Treatment Plant

Once Grace brings an injured Emily to the water treatment plant, the Girl will reappear for revenge. Here’s where Grace switches from defense to offense, as the area is littered with bullets for you to enjoy. That’s right! She gets to spend more time using the Requime. But! The weapon can only stun the Girl – as was demonstrated when Grace first met Leon – because she has rapid regenerative abilities.

The real goal is to open the roof to lighten up the area by activating three power consoles. Keep this in mind: you will still need to be as stealthy as you were in the Rhodes Hill Center. Fortunately, standing around the area are site lights you can turn on for temporary offense. Overall, it’s best to sneak from location to location.

First Power Console: Chemical Treatment

It’s important to collect as much Requiem ammo before exploring for the consoles. Before interacting with the cranks, it’s best to stun the Girl a few feet away from the panel so you have time to turn it. With time on your side, crank the handle, and watch the light on the console turn from red to green. The ceiling will open up, showering down a bright light that will burn and chase away the Girl. This becomes a safe spot for you to come back to if the Girl is hot on your trail.

Second Power Console: Control Room

The second console is located all the way to the left of the map inside the control room. Once there, you will find that the crank handle is missing from the console. Don’t panic because it’s closer than you think. On the map, the Control room is under the Filling Room where the handle resides. It’s sitting on a shelf at eye level, out in the open when you walk in.

Once you fix the crank into place, the Girl will suddenly grab and toss you away from the panel. When the scripted scene ends, use the Requiem to hit her between the eyes. You can either run straight to the panel and turn the crank or run back into the Filling Room to hide and wait for the Girl to leave. When the light turns green, the area will turn into another safe spot.

Third Power Console: Storage Room

For the last power console, you need to make your way back right and then up when you reach the center of the map. The Storage Room holds the final crank to turn, but the Girl is still on high alert. Sneak your way over to Storage, turning on some spotlights to keep the Girl at bay. Once you see the red glow of the console, you’ll try to turn the crank only to find that it’s very stiff.

The being will suddenly drop down from the ceiling the moment you touch the crank. This can go two ways. The first is to waste no time pulling the crank until you fully turn it. This poses the risk of being caught by the Girl, and for Grace’s sake, that’s practically a one-shot kill. This is more for those who laugh in the face of danger (not me). The second way is to use the Requiem to stun her before she moves to you. This will buy you plenty of time to unstick the crank and fully turn it.

The Final Shot

Once all power distribution consoles have been activated, go and take the elevator up a level to the main power panel. The Girl will climb over the rails as soon as you leave the elevator. Dash, not to the main power box, but to a spotlight that is aimed directly at the panel. She won’t be able to touch you when you push the button to open the roof completely.

As you watch her sizzle and burn in the light, take the Requiem and give the Girl a final headshot. The game will move to a cutscene as we witness the ghoul roar and wail before turning into a puddle of zombie goop. You have defeated the Girl of Resident Evil Requiem like a boss (or like a Leon).
