“A New Venture on the Eighth Dawn” is soon to begin – and we finally have all the details on what exactly Honkai: Star Rail update 2.7 entails.
HoYoverse is not holding back for the last stretch of the RPG’s 2.X run, bringing two characters, a chapter of the main story, a housing feature, and a free 5-Star character selector to the table. That’s right, version 2.7 will allow you to choose one 5-Star character from the Standard Banner without having to pull for them.

Honkai: Star Rail update 2.7 – story & characters
“A New Venture on the Eighth Dawn” is not only the title of version 2.7 as a whole, but also of the Trailblaze Mission available after the update. It will serve as an epilogue to the entire 2.X run as well as a prologue to the Amphoreus story arc set to begin in version 3.0 next year.
In this mission, Himeko seeks for information on Amphoreus and the crew halts at Penacony to prepare for the next destination. Here, Sunday and Fugue – the two new characters joining the roster in this version – will have some goodbyes to say and the Trailblazer gets to make a big decision regarding Sunday’s future.
Honkai: Star Rail update 2.7 – events
Update 2.7 of Honkai: Star Rail will feature the following events.
- Cosmic Home Décor Guide – put together teams to help Pom-Pom with chores and get rewarded with furniture for the Trailblazer’s Room; rewards also include Stellar Jade and a Pom-Pom skin.
- Between the Frames – assist March 7th with participating in Mr. Reca’s new photography exhibition; rewards include Stellar Jade.
- Gift of Odyssey – login event with ten tickets for the limited banners.
- Planar Fissure – double rewards for Planar Extraction challenges.
- Realm of the Strange – double rewards for Cavern of Corrosion challenges.
- Express Gift – select one 5-Star character from the Standard Banner for free.
The 5-Star selector will enable you to choose one of the following characters:
Honkai: Star Rail update 2.7 – features & additions
In tandem with the Cosmic Home Décor Guide event, version 2.7 will introduce a new section on the Astral Express – the Party Car. Among other things, this will house the Trailblazer's Room, a section of the Express that players can customize and decorate with furniture and other items. In addition, players will be able to unlock different outfits for Pom-Pom and dress them up.
A Divergent Universe update will allow save files to stick around for longer than a week – you can now save runs to use for Planar Extraction until the next major update to the DU, which is set for version 3.0.
A Pure Fiction update will introduce new Grit mechanics, which will make Erudition characters all the more powerful in this mode. Among other things, players will be able to whittle down bosses’ HP by repeatedly clearing minions, which will keep respawning.
A Story Recap function will be introduced. It will allow players to watch a quick summary of any previous events relevant to the upcoming Trailblaze Mission they’re about to play.
Finally, version 2.7 will allow players to delete data connected to story sections they’ve already played through, thus reducing the amount of storage space needed on their device.

All signs point to Yankees moving on from Anthony Volpe
With the trade for Ryan McMahon now complete, it would seem New York Yankees’ general manager Brian Cashman has fulfilled one of his three priorities. He can now cross third base off the list, which leaves the rotation and bullpen as his remaining priorities. However, according to one Yankees writer, Cashman might not be done with the infield. Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reported this after the McMahon trade: “The Yankees may not be done adding to their infield. A team source said the Yankees are interested in adding a right-handed hitter who could play the infield.” Kirschner adds that the Yankees have had interest in Willi Castro and Amed Rosario. But the question now is, how would another player fit into the Yankees’ infield? Needless to say, Paul Goldschmidt and Jazz Chisholm Jr. aren’t going anywhere, and McMahon is just getting there. That leaves the low-hanging fruit. Anthony Volpe has been at the center of controversy all this season. His 13 errors, many of which had come at make-or-break moments, amount to the second-highest total in the game. In addition, his bat has not been able to compensate, hitting .214/.286/.407 with 14 home runs. There was always a lot to like about Volpe. He won a Gold Glove in his rookie year, his power has always been promising and his speed is nothing to scoff at. Unfortunately, his glove has become a liability, and his speed has also produced very few results. Volpe has swiped just 10 bags in 17 attempts. His power is the one thing that still has some upside, but it hasn’t been enough to justify a spot in the lineup. Both Castro and Rosario have been far more productive at the plate this season than Volpe. Kirschner doesn’t clarify how serious the Yankees are in their pursuit of another infielder, but that most likely isn’t available information. Having just turned 24, Volpe could still become the type of player that was expected from him as a top prospect. However, his recent performance has weighed heavily on his team’s efforts, and it may be buying him a ticket out of the Bronx — or at least a spot on the bench.
Green Bay Packers 3rd Year Receiver Turning Heads At Training Camp
The Green Bay Packers have one of the youngest rosters in the NFL. A big reason for this is their wide receiver room. For the past three seasons, they have relied on rookies and second-year players to carry the load on offense from a pass-catching perspective. However, that has led to some inconsistent play. Last year, drops were a huge issue, especially for former fifth-round pick Dontayvion Wicks. He was able to get open but would drop the ball in key moments. Wicks is determined to change the narrative and is already turning heads in training camp. Green Bay Packers WR Dontayvion Wicks Looking Good Wicks was the star of the 2-minute drill during Friday’s training camp practice. He found a hole in the zone and ran the post route. Quarterback Jordan Love saw him immediately and unloaded a long ball. The former Virginia receiver was all alone and caught a 49-yard touchdown pass to end the drill. This was one of the many great plays Wicks made throughout the practice. He was asked about the play after the practice. “I knew I had the post,” Wicks said. “I had a man on me. I released, ran full speed. I knew X was over the top. So I stemmed out a little bit and broke flat across. It was a runaway, and J-Love gave me the ball and I ran under it, and that was all from there.” This is great news for the Green Bay Packers. Drops can often be attributed to a lack of confidence. They can snowball. Once a player drops one pass, it can snowball into more drops. The same can be said about catches. Once a player gets confidence, it can be hard to stop. If Dontayvion Wicks has gotten his confidence, the league should watch out. No Problems Getting Open Wicks had no problems getting open last year. According to ESPN Analytics, he was open on 84% of his routes, thanks to a quick burst off the snap and his ability to find gaps in the zone. However, getting open doesn’t matter if a player can’t bring in the ball. The Green Bay Packers hope this is the start of a new player in 2025. Matthew Golden has also looked good in training camp, and Jayden Reed has vowed to drop fewer passes as well in 2025. If that trio can haul in passes, this offense could be one of the best in the league. Final Thoughts We always have to be cautious about training camp news. It can sometimes point to what will happen in the season, but not always. However, this seems like a step in the right direction for the Green Bay Packers. If Wicks gains confidence now, that should carry over into the season.
Mariners' Cal Raleigh makes history with 40th home run
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh clubbed his 40th home run of the season on Saturday night against the Los Angeles Angels, not only extending his major league lead but also making him the first player in baseball to reach the 40-home run mark this season. It also helped him make some history. With his 40th home run, Raleigh became both the first catcher and the first switch-hitter in baseball history to reach the 40 home run mark before the end of July. Here is a look at his 40th home run. He is already in the process of having one of the best seasons ever for a Mariners player, and also one of the best seasons ever for a catcher, for any team. Especially when you add in his defense, where he is one of the best defensive catchers in the league. His only serious competition for the American League MVP Award remains New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge. But with Judge sidelined for a period of time now due to an elbow injury, it might open the door for Raleigh to really put himself in the lead for that award.
Jalen Williams fires back at critics who call him 'corny'
Jalen Williams does not appreciate the suggestion that he is a cornball. The Oklahoma City star Williams fired back at his critics in an Instagram comment this week. Williams was asked by a user about what he would say to those labeling him as “corny.” “tbh the same people calling me corny couldn’t hold my water in real life,” said Williams. “prolly would ask for a selfie if we was face to face.” For context, the 24-year-old Williams made headlines this week by recreating an iconic photograph of Kobe Bryant. Williams recently underwent surgery on his right wrist and posed in the style of the famous 1999 photo of Bryant at the free throw line wearing pajama bottoms and a large cast on his wrist. The “corny” label is usually given to NBA players who are seen as acting in an inauthentic way, especially to gain respect on social media. That becomes particularly so whenever they involve the late Bryant (with Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum also drawing “corny” criticisms in the past for invoking Bryant in his antics). Williams can probably do without the clout-chasing at this point since he has already very much arrived as an NBA player in his own regard. The ex-lottery pick was an All-Star, an All-NBA selection and an All-Defensive selection this past season. He then went on to win the NBA championship with the Thunder and was among several core OKC players who got rewarded with rich extensions as a result. That said, Williams is sometimes seen as a third fiddle with the Thunder behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren. As a result, he tends to gravitate toward attention-grabbing stunts, and he does not care if he is labeled “corny” because of them.
