How to Get Mega Chesnaught in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Step 1: Find and Catch Chespin

Your quest for Mega Chesnaught begins with its base form, the Spiny Nut Pokémon, Chespin. While not available as a starter choice at the beginning of the game, you can add this Grass-type Pokémon to your team through a specific in-game mission.

To get Chespin, you must complete Side Mission #007: “A Feisty Chespin.” This mission will become available as you advance the main story of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Finishing this mission guarantees you an encounter with Chespin, allowing you to catch it and add it to your roster. Chespin may also appear as a rare spawn in specific Wild Zones, but the side mission is the most direct and reliable method.

Step 2: Evolve Chespin into Chesnaught

1. Evolve Chespin into Quilladin: Train your Chespin until it reaches Level 16.
2. Evolve Quilladin into Chesnaught: Continue training your Quilladin until it reaches Level 36.

You can level up your Pokémon quickly by battling in the Wild Zones of Lumiose City or by using items like Exp. Candy. After your Quilladin reaches Level 36, it will evolve into the powerful Grass/Fighting-type, Chesnaught.

Step 3: Obtain the Chesnaughtite Mega Stone

The final and most crucial step to unlocking Mega Chesnaught is acquiring its exclusive Mega Stone, the Chesnaughtite. This item allows Chesnaught to undergo Mega Evolution in battle.

The Chesnaughtite is a special reward that is not found through regular gameplay or exploration. Instead, it is available exclusively through the game’s online competitive feature, the Z-A Battle Club.

To obtain the Chesnaughtite, you must:

• Participate in Season 3 of the Z-A Battle Club’s online Ranked Battles.
• Reach a specific rank or earn a required number of points during the season to unlock the Chesnaughtite as a promotional reward.
