Ah, Borderlands. The series that taught us that loot explosions are a form of therapy and that a talking robot can be both your best friend and the bane of your existence. With the (entirely fictional, don’t get your hopes up… yet) release of Borderlands 4, we’re back on the chaotic planet of Kairos, and boy, does it have some secrets. One of the first head-scratchers you’ll stumble upon is the Tipping Point Bunker. It’s sitting there, all smug and locked up, practically begging you to figure out its deal.
You’ve probably found it, stared at its impenetrable door, shot it a few times for good measure, and maybe even yelled at it. No judgment, we’ve all been there. It seems completely blocked, maybe by some fancy alien forcefield or just sheer stubbornness. The truth is, the game is being a little sneaky. But don’t you worry, your pretty little Vault Hunter head; I’m here to spill the tea on how to crack this sucker open and get to the sweet, sweet loot inside.
First things first, where is this elusive bunker? You’ll find the Tipping Point Bunker tucked away in the very southeast corner of The Fadefields. It’s a bit off the main path, chilling next to a boss arena and a Safe House. Honestly, you can’t really miss it once you’re in the area. Nothing physically stops you from running straight to it the second you gain control of your character. The only problem? It’s locked up tighter than Claptrap’s diary.
So, you’re standing in front of the Tipping Point Bunker, and it’s giving you the silent treatment. Here’s the secret: you can’t open it right away. I know, I know, it’s a total buzzkill. The game wants you to work for it.
To open this bunker, you need to progress through the main story until you complete the mission “One Fell Swoop.” This quest is your golden ticket, as it unlocks the ability to use Locust Canisters. These little beauties are basically acid bombs designed to melt through specific barriers, including the one on our stubborn bunker door.
Once you’ve got that ability, it’s time for a little field trip back to The Fadefields.
Ready to feel like a genius? Follow these steps:
Poof! The barrier will dissolve like cotton candy in the rain, and the bunker is all yours. See? You didn’t need to be a rocket scientist, just a very determined person with access to highly corrosive materials.
Congratulations, you’re in! Now what? Well, it’s a bunker, so expect a fight. You’ll need to clear out a bunch of Order enemies who are less than thrilled about your home invasion. The layout is pretty straightforward, so just follow the path, shoot anything that moves, and make your way to the end.
Your final challenge is a boss fight against a nasty piece of work named Mimicron. Take it down, and you’ll be rewarded with a beautiful, glorious, shimmering fountain of loot. And we all know that’s why we’re really here. There’s always a chance for some shiny legendaries to drop, so cross your fingers and hope RNGesus is on your side.
Once you know the trick, opening this bunker and others like it becomes second nature. It’s just Borderlands‘ way of reminding you that sometimes, the solution is right around the corner, waiting for you to unlock a new way to make things go boom.
