For Chapter 2 of Indigo Park, one thing was made clear: Finley, the sea creature mascot, is not here to play nice anymore. When the official trailer dropped, fans immediately noticed a massive shift in Finley’s design—and honestly, it might be one of the smartest moves UniqueGeese has made so far.

From Cute Mascot to Nightmare Fuel

When Indigo Park first introduced its cast of characters, they all had that cutesy, cartoon-inspired look. Rambly was cheerful and chipper in his computer terminal. Finley? Kind of adorable for a sea creature. But in Chapter 2’s trailer? Finley’s had a glow-up—and by glow-up, we mean straight-up horror rework.

Gone is the fun, friendly serpentine buddy. The new Finley is darker, more spine-tingling, and entirely in line with the game’s horror atmosphere. The question was brought up during the developer panel at MomoCon, and the reaction was nearly unanimous: the redesign was absolutely the right call.

A Design Built for Terror

Let’s be honest—the his original design clashed a bit with the vibe we got from Chapter 1’s Molly the Macaw. Molly went from quirky bird mascot to full-on flight hazard with teeth. Keeping Finley cartoony while everything else was nightmare fuel? Yeah, that wouldn’t have landed.

Mason (aka UniqueGeese) confirmed during the panel that Finley’s redesign was planned for a while. They knew early on that the original wasn’t going to hit the horror mark, and the new look? It hits.

This new Finley fits perfectly into the terrifying tone Indigo Park is going for, especially if the theories about underwater gameplay in the Oceanic Odyssey section hold up. If we’re swimming through half-submerged park ruins, the last thing we want to see is Finley’s horrifying new face coming at us—especially since he’s probably way better at swimming than we are.

Final Thoughts: Good Call, Great Scare

At the end of the day, a horror game has to sell its monsters. Cute can be fun, but creepy is unforgettable. And this Finley? He’s unforgettable. UniqueGeese and the dev team knew what they were doing—and Chapter 2 is shaping up to be even more spine-chilling because of it.
