Cronos The New Dawn is the newest title from Bloober Team and has just recently had a successful release a couple of weeks ago. There are talks among different communities, comparing Cronos The New Dawn with another Bloober Team title, Silent Hill 2 Remake. So, is the former Better than the latter? Or are we again wasting time ranking games for no reason? Here’s the full scoop.

Cronos The New Dawn vs Silent Hill 2 Remake

Cronos: The New Dawn and the Silent Hill 2 Remake are survival horror games made by the same developer, Bloober Team. Even though they are part of the same genre of game, they each have a distinct and very different feel. Whereas Silent Hill 2 opts for an unsettling, combative experience, Cronos: The New Dawn is combat-intensive, emphasizing weapon upgrades and gear.

Silent Hill 2 is a master at bringing about an uncomfortable, nightmarish atmosphere, and though the enemies in Cronos: The New Dawn are also nightmarish in their own right, the game leans heavily into body horror rather than a dark and intense atmosphere. Now, given all of this, which one is better?

Which Is Better?

If I had to choose, I would always pick the Silent Hill 2 Remake. Silent Hill is one of my all-time favorite franchises. The series is dark, immersive, and horrifying in many different ways. The experience we go through as James is relatable, and the enemies are some of the most iconic in all of horror. Apart from the nostalgia I feel while playing this game, Silent Hill 2 offers my favorite type of horror: a psychological, brutal nightmare that’s visually grotesque, while we are subject to mind-torturing terror.

This may be a little biased, but Silent Hill 2 is everything you can hope for in a horror game, which doesn’t need to be gory to be scary. Less is more, and Silent Hill 2 delivers on that front. Now, this isn’t to say that Cronos: The New Dawn is a terrible game. From what I’ve experienced so far, it’s entertaining as hell and really interesting. But as a longtime fan of the Silent Hill series, I will always hold this game in high regard.
