Is The heart of Little Big Planet Dead?

I am a big fan of Little Big Planet, and it breaks my heart to watch the game dwindle. I know it was a good run for the game, and Sackboy will live in our hearts.  Little Big Planet is a puzzle game that started in 2008, the first game of this puzzle adventure series, and continued through 2014 with Little Big Planet 3.

According to the article above, we can affirm that it died earlier this year.

In 2021, the PS3 servers for 2014’s LittleBigPlanet 3 were shut down due to DDoS attacks. Then, in January 2024, due to technical issues, the LBP3 PS4 servers were taken down “temporarily.” However, in April, Sony announced that the servers were going to stay offline permanently. All the thousands of user-generated levels, including content created in the previous games, was no longer playable. And then in October, Sony announced it was delisting LBP3 and all DLC.

Sadly, due to this, we only now have the first and second games of the franchise.  Little Big Planet has a deep revival. This game is going to be brand new, but it will fill the hearts of those Little Big Planet lovers like myself, called ‘Restitched’, classy right? 

The Revival

After an overview of the game and its priorities, it is a replica of Little Big Planet. Although you aren’t playing as Sackboy, you are playing as a cute bear named Stuffy.  Restitched is an adventure game, such as Little Big Planet. Now the game isn’t on PlayStation like Little Big Planet, but rather it is on Steam. 

A 2.5D puzzle-platformer game with mix-and-match character customization and a robust level editor that allows you to create levels for other players to experience via the Steam Workshop!

Final Thoughts

I am a bit sad about the game going and how it won’t be accompanied anymore, but I am excited about Restitched. Though there is no date to determine when the new game will be released, I do have a good feeling about it. It is, as I have mentioned, a LBP revival, however, it has a few tricks up its sleeve. The description is as follows: ” Restitched follows the story of a brave, adventurous teddy bear named Stuffy on a journey to find their roots.” I am personally excited for a new and improved adventure full of wonder, and hope in my heart. I do know that this will heal many people within the heart of the game.
