Have you ever wanted to rearrange people on buses, in restaurants, or in parks? If so, Is This Seat Taken? is the game for you. Even if you don’t have that particular dream, you might still want to check the game out. Is This Seat Taken? looks to be a weird – but still fun – little puzzle game.

So What is Is This Seat Taken?

The trailer, which was featured in the Nintendo Indie World Showcase, demonstrated the player dragging around little people who look like polygonal shapes through minimalistic environments. These environments include restaurants, buses, and parties. The catch is that each person has their own preferences about where they want to sit. For example, on an airplane, some people might want a window seat while others want an aisle seat. At a restaurant, some people might want to read, while others might want to chat at the bar.

Juggling People’s Needs

As you progress through the game, you’ll have to rearrange the people constantly to keep them happy. On an airplane, someone who wants to sleep won’t be happy sitting next to someone who wants to chat. At a party, a shy guest won’t be happy hanging out with a drunk guest. Their needs will inevitably collide, leaving you to apply brain power to figure out the best arrangement to keep most of them happy. It looks like a fun little puzzler that will keep your brain constantly active.

Conclusion

The game launches today on the Nintendo Switch (but not the Switch 2). It will also be available on Steam and mobile devices. I may pick this one up. It looks like it could be a fun time, especially if you yourself are on a plane or at the waiting room of a doctor’s office and you don’t particularly like where you’re sitting. Is This Seat Taken? could be a great way to give your brain some exercise.
