The final games of the first LCK week had interesting permutations. Either Nongshim Redforce or DN SOOPers would be one of two teams to end week 1 at a 2-0 series scoreline. On the other hand, one of the two First Stand representatives would be 0-2 in the opening week. Ultimately, NS and Gen.G emerged victorious in their series. NS and KT Rolster are the two teams tied at the top of the LCK standings.

Game One – Losing With Infernal Soul

The game seemed to be in DNS’s hands as they secured the Infernal Soul. With it being one of the strongest souls in the game, it would take a throw to lose. And that is what happened. deokdam died on mid-wave, which led to Pyosik’s death and NS getting Baron. They then crushed the Elder Drake fight and won against Infernal Soul.

Game Two – Dominant From Start To Finish

NS had a lead in game two from start to finish. DNS showed signs of life, but they were not enough. Whenever NS had a good play, it was to recover the deficit. Pyosik’s Baron steal kept the game alive for longer, but all it did was delay the inevitable. This time, the team with Soul won the game.

Gen.G Esports Versus FearX

Game One – An Early Ace

The first ace of the game came at the second Drake fight. Gen.G picked up five kills in trade for one, with Kiin going down. Gen.G snowballed the game from that fight. There were moments where BFX fought back, but it did not matter. Another mysterious choice for BFX was putting Diable on Senna. Senna is a champion that does not play to Diable’s strengths.

Game Two – BFX Fight Against a Deficit

The first two fights of the game were close, with each team winning one. Gen.G got a significant gold lead from their win. Despite Gen.G’s lead, BFX continued to fight back, keeping the game from exploding. However, they made one mistake on a Baron timer, which led to their downfall. Gen.G won two fights in a row to close out the series.

DNS Had It In Their Grasp

DNS should have won game one. Earning the Infernal Soul is almost always a game-winning play. However, DNS failed to convert, and it went downhill from there. NS has started well, but there are holes in their gameplay. They looked dead and buried for most of game one, and needed a DNS throw to recover.

Questionable BFX Drafting

The reason BFX rose to second seed in the LCK was their drafting around bot lane. They always tried their best to give Diable and Kellin a winning matchup. More importantly, they prioritized mobile AD carries for Diable. Today, they drafted Senna. Not only is she a fringe pick, but she is also not a champion that Diable usually plays. Hopefully, all it is is them trying to practice different styles. It is early enough in the LCK where losses like this are not the worst. Also, trying compositions against Gen.G is not a bad idea, since you are not the favorites anyway.
