LCK Cup 2026 Match Review: Gen.G’s Revenge Begins
Devin Morris

The last time Gen.G Esports and KT Rolster played against each other, KT shocked the world. KT managed to defeat Gen.G 3-1 and qualified for the World Championship final. Their first meeting in the LCK in 2026 was the opposite result. Gen.G dominated proceedings from start to finish. There were not many times that KT had a gold lead throughout the duration of the series.

KT managed to get gold into Aiming’s pocket through kills on Ruler and Chovy. Both of Gen.G’s carries overextended for no reason. Gen.G won the pivotal fight with a 5-0 ace, allowing them to take Cloud Soul and Baron. Cuzz and Bdd caught Chovy in the mid-lane on Gen.G’s Baron push. KT tried to fight with the extra member, but Kiin and Duro denied them. Off the back of the Elder Drake buff, Gen.G pushed for the end.

Game Two Summary

Pollu subs in for Ghost for game two. Bdd and Cuzz earn First Blood on Chovy, but lose Bdd in the extended play. Four members from each team battle it out in the top river. It went in favor of Gen.G as Kiin lives longer than he should have. At the same time, Aiming nearly killed Ruler in the 1v1. Much like game one, Gen.G stacked Drakes, won skirmishes, and built a significant gold lead. The combination of the draft, gold lead, and Gen.G’s excellent teamfighting increased the lead. The LCK defending champions utilized a Baron push to end the game.

Series Summary

Gen.G has started their revenge arc against KT with a dominant victory. The 2-0 series win does not erase the loss in the World Championship. The entire Gen.G roster was firing on all cylinders. They managed to build leads without needing kills. It was a classic domestic Gen.G game. Ruler had a quiet day for his standards. That was because of the dominance of the LCK Champions, and he had to lane against Ziggs in game two.

KT had moments during the series where they looked competitive. But they were always a step behind Gen.G in almost all aspects. Cuzz tried his best to lead his team back from a deficit. The draft for KT is something they would want to have back. Drafting champions like Wukong, Nautilus, and Renekton into an Anivia made it impossible for them to play. Pollu had multiple deaths during game two, but he can not shoulder too much blame, given the draft he had to play into.
