The original LEGO Batman games were fun, quirky adventures full of LEGO’s unique sense of humor. Fans of those games now have a reason to rejoice, since a new LEGO Batman game is finally coming out, and it looks like it will be another winner. The new trailer gives us a taste of how Batman is swinging his way into a new gaming generation.
The trailer, which debuted at Gamescom 2025, immediately shows us that LEGO’s quirky sense of humor is still intact, since it opens with Batman stopping a heist of . . . rubber duckies. No, I’m not making that up. Only the geniuses at LEGO could come up with something so random and hilarious. The trailer also demonstrates Batman doing Batman things like gliding through the city and beating up thugs (complete with the sound effect balloons straight from the Adam West TV series), which should be great fun when playing the game.
Early word of this game was that it would be based on the Batman live-action movies, and the trailer shows that to be true – at least, we can confirm that Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy will be included. The trailer shows off iconic moments from the trilogy, such as Bruce Wayne going through his early training, the Joker quipping “Why so serious?”, and Bane making his threatening appearance – at least, it’s threatening until he steps on a LEGO brick.
One has to wonder how the game will incorporate LEGO humor into the trilogy’s more serious moments, such as Rachel’s death, but given that LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga managed to balance humor with the Star Wars saga’s seriousness, Batman should be in good hands.
Whether you’re a longtime LEGO Batman fan or you’re new to the world of LEGO games, you should find plenty to enjoy in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. The game can be wishlisted on Steam now, and it is set to be released sometime in 2026. I am definitely planning to wishlist it, and I’m looking forward to immersing myself in a new version of LEGO Gotham.
