LEGO Fortnite release time: everything we know so far

The game is set to release on Thursday, December 7, 2023. Epic hasn’t announced an exact time for the mode to go live just yet, but our best guess is that it will happen at 12am ET. It’s also unclear if it will require any downtime before it goes live, but it likely won’t, as everything seemed to be included in Saturday’s big update.

If anything changes or Epic announces an official release time, we will update this space.

What is LEGO Fortnite?

We haven’t got much of an idea as to what LEGO Fortnite will entail just yet. There was initially speculation that it was a block-themed battle royale mode, but the game’s official site has since confirmed that it is a “survival crafting adventure”.

Survival crafting is a term often used to describe games like Minecraft or The Forest, where you explore the terrain, craft equipment, and build a base to keep you safe. LEGO has attempted to make things like this before with games like LEGO Worlds, but with the Fortnite team behind them, this could be the most intriguing one yet.

Additionally, the use of the term “adventure” implies that there may be some sort of narrative element involved. While survival crafting games are usually infinite in nature, many of them like The Forest have scattered narrative pieces throughout their world to help players progress.

What we do know for certain is that a huge chunk of Fortnite skins have been translated into the LEGO minifigure style, letting you use your extensive Fortnite skin collection in the new LEGO Fortnite mode.
