Nintendo fans are buzzing with anticipation after spotting a mysterious but not unknown character in the Super Mario Bros. Wonder: Switch 2 Edition trailer. With hints of Galaxy-themed expansions, new multiplayer content, and a movie tie-in, the future of Mario looks brighter than ever.

Rosalina’s Surprise Cameo Sparks Galaxy-Sized Speculation

Nintendo has once again stirred excitement in the gaming world with its latest trailer for Super Mario Bros. Wonder: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park. While the trailer showcased vibrant new content and multiplayer features, eagle-eyed fans spotted something even more thrilling- a glimpse of Rosalina, the beloved space princess from Space Mario Galaxy.

At the 2:01 mark of the trailer, a mini-game icon appears featuring Rosalina alongside Yoshi, suggesting she may play a role in the upcoming edition. This is a major surprise, as Rosalina was not part of the original Wonder lineup. Her appearance aligns perfectly with Nintendo’s broader push for Galaxy-themed content in 2026, fueling speculation that new levels or expansions inspired by the Super Mario Galaxy series could be on the horizon.

The upgraded game, officially titled Meetup in Bellabel Park, introduces a central plaza where players can engage in fresh multiplayer challenges. Next year, fans can expect expanded ports of Super Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2 for the Switch 2, available individually or as a bundle. Even more exciting is the release of a physical edition of Rosalina’s in-game storybook, a cherished piece of lore from the original Galaxy games.

And the excitement doesn’t stop there. During the same Nintendo Direct, a teaser for the Super Mario Galaxy Movie aired, strongly hinting at Rosalina’s cinematic debut. As the follow-up to the wildly successful movie, this new film could mark an expansion of the universe on the big screen.
