Well, it finally happened, dear readers—we get the first bit of news of stolen Nintendo Switch 2 consoles in the U.S. Yep, $1.4 million worth of Nintendo Switch 2 consoles were stolen from a semi-truck in Colorado as it was making its delivery to the target retail store!

The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at a Love’s truck stop located at 1191 South 1st Street in Bennett, Colorado, on June 8th. A semi-truck driver had stopped for a pre-trip inspection and discovered that his trailer had been broken into.

Nearly 3,000 Units Missing

Wondering how many Nintendo Switch 2 consoles were stolen to hit that whopping $1.4 million? That would be 2,810 consoles, based on each unit being valued at $499.

The driver reported he was en route to a GameStop store in Grapevine, Texas, coming from Nintendo of America in Redmond, Washington. He claimed he didn’t know what was in the trailer—just that it was “games or toys.” Though the manifest would typically reveal whether it was high-value electronics like Nintendo consoles.

Now, customers who rightfully paid for their Nintendo Switch 2 consoles are left in the dust until they can be found, or replaced by Nintendo. Which, sadly, may take a minute with how popular the next-gen console has been.

Who Did It—and Where?

Deputies are unsure if the theft occurred in Bennett or another city along the delivery route. Pre-checks only happen at certain intervals during long hauls, so there’s a good chance the heist took place between pre-check stops.

As for the suspects—plural, most likely, because let’s be honest, moving nearly 3,000 consoles isn’t exactly a solo job—they could face felony theft charges for property valued at over $1 million, in addition to charges of criminal mischief.
