We’ve got another review revolution on our hands in Monster Hunter Wilds! Yes, Monster Hunter Wilds is the latest battleground for an influx of negative reviews by players who are not too happy with the lack of action on Capcom’s part in fixing the poor PC performance and glitches they’ve noticed.
As of right now, there are over 2,000 negative reviews, and almost all of them are about said PC performance—with some players wondering if Capcom is even listening to them.
“It’s been 4 months since releasing. The game hasn’t seen any notable performance fixes,” one Steam user wrote.
And many more agree, maintaining that the negative reviews will remain in place until Capcom fixes the issues.
These negative reviews show that the game is plagued by crashes, stuttering, and visual glitches that take you out of the immersive experience of Monster Hunter Wilds. Although there have been updates over the past few months, Capcom really hasn’t solved the issues or even acknowledged them, even though they’re insanely important to the players themselves.
Some Steam reviewers have even claimed the performance has gotten worse. Is it a server overload? Or is it a Capcom retaliation for the negative reviews?
Along with performance issues, some players are disappointed with things like the difficulty of the monster fights when compared to older games like Monster Hunter World. As many monsters were harder after the first update, but superfans want even more challenges! One Steam user commented:
“They charge $70 for a game that feels like it has less content than its precursors.”
So while there have been updates, the content has been very lackluster in the eyes and experience of longtime Monster Hunter fans.
There are now more concurrent players for Monster Hunter World than Wilds, as World has been out longer and has gone on sale more often (yay, Steam sales). But what was slated to be one of the hit games of the year has been steadily declining since early April.
And it actually hit its lowest concurrent player count in the last few weeks—guess how many players? A whopping total of 6,000 players, according to SteamDB.
Even the Street Fighter collab that dropped in May didn’t draw in a ton of interest. It left the game in a holding pattern until the next update, which Capcom will reveal on June 26th—just two more days from the date of this article.
So yeah, as of right now, there are no performance patches incoming for the game. Monster Hunter Wilds is following the same path as Dragon’s Dogma from last year, which still has issues on PC.
Many Monster Hunter Wilds players aren’t really holding out hope that Capcom will do much of anything in the way of clearing up concerns. But they’re still trying their best to make their dissatisfaction known—the only way they can.
