The world of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is a cold and unforgiving landscape, that being said there is no shortage of love and romance to be found within the Nordic homeland. From Solitude to Riften, even with the civil war going on in the background, the loving embrace of Mara reaches all in the frozen north. With all that said, there are also some very questionable partners that you can choose to marry should you desire. So here’s a list of the worst NPCs to marry in the land of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim
Temba is a Nord woman who spends her days at the mill in Ivarstead, the town that serves as the starting point for the 7,000 steps to High Hrothgar. She offers a quest to deliver ten bear pelts to her. Once delivered, she will have the option to marry her. Temba’s personality is not noteworthy, as she is rude to the player before hunting down 10 bear pelts for her. She can’t be a follower like most other NPCs, and she doesn’t offer to train any skills that the player may use.
Cosnach is a Nord warrior who spends his time drinking the hours away at the Silver-Blood Inn in Markarth. If the player challenges him to a brawl and wins, the player will be able to marry him. Cosnach is a typical drunkard; he wastes all his coin through mercenary work on drinks nearly the whole day before going back to sleep to do it all again the next day. To his credit, he can be recruited as a follower and a member of the Blades should the player desire to do so.
Taarie is the owner of Radiant Raiment in Solitude. She’s well known for judging players for their fashion choices. She also has more strict requirements for marriage, as you need to invest in her store utilizing the Investor perk in the Speech skill tree. After investing and marrying her, she doesn’t offer training and she cannot be a follower. She is also incredibly rude to the player, much like Temba.
Athis is a male Dark Elf, member of the Companions. You first encounter him in Jorrvaskr, losing a brawl to another companion. He is by far the weakest of the companions that call Jorrvaskr home. To marry him, you must complete the entire companions’ quest line. By the end, he can train you in One-handed and be a mediocre follower. Other than that, he is mostly forgettable outside of the companions’ quest line.
The world of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim has a lot of beauty, both in its lands and characters. Unfortunately, where there is beauty, there is also the ugly side of characters, and these were just a few examples. There are a lot more marriage options that were not covered here. Therefore, I challenge everyone to go out and scour the land. See if you can find any worse partners to marry within the frozen north.
