Nintendo Switch 2 Preorder Date Leaked

During the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct livestream that took place on April 2, Nintendo revealed that preorders for the new system would begin on April 9. That date quickly changed, with delays in the United States, Canada, and China all recently announced. Fans quickly became worried, as it was unclear when the system would be back up for preorder, with the uncertainty of international tariffs playing a role in the instability. On April 15, however, an industry insider revealed the date may be much closer than feared.

While these are all leaks, rumors, and speculation, if the industry insider who spoke on the date is to be believed, pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the US and Canada will be available right around the corner, DeaLabs’ Billbil-Kun posted on his own X account that the Canada and United States preorder dates could be either April 23 or April 30. By Billbil-kun’s admission, he has found conflicting information that makes it unclear exactly what is accurate and what is not.

What’s In The Post?

In his post, Billbil-Kun says that US retailers appear to have dates of either April 21 or April 30 for the console preorder and April 30 for most accessories. However, Canada appears to be on track to hit retailers on April 23. It seems a bit strange that Canada would delay their preorders to match the US and then not drop at the same time. Therefore, it could be that all will be released either on the 23rd or the 30th.

This information regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 in the United States was backed up by user Wario64 on X, Target has a date set for April 30. He does warn fans, however, that the date could simply be put in as a placeholder for a future date, as it is the last day of the month. Until Nintendo makes it official, the only way to sign up for pre-order is through the My Nintendo Store email list, which will begin to go out on May 8.

With so much information, controversy, and talk around the Nintendo Switch 2 release, it can be hard to know what is real and what is fluff. With no confirmation from Nintendo, all we have available right now is rumors of a hopeful preorder date shortly. With no sure pricing and no sure date, fans are still left to speculate. That said, the system should still sell well once it is officially available; after all, the fact that the console is trending so much means there is plenty of interest.
