We have under four weeks until the release of Season 17 in Overwatch 2. Stadium has been a hit since the start of Season 16, with it bringing a new way to experience Overwatch 2. The developers will continue to add features to the game mode in the coming seasons. Today, we have more information on what they are adding to Stadium in Season 17.
The balance for most Stadium matches is uneven. It has created some discomfort with the mode as players have faced one-sided matches. The internal modifier applied to all players in Stadium is getting removed on June 3rd. Matches should become more even for players in the future.
The All-Star Legendary Juno skin was leaving at the end of this season. Instead, Developers are giving players an additional season to earn the exclusive skin. The extension, combined with the increase to Skill Bonus, should allow for ample chances to obtain the skin.
Season 17 will also see the addition of a new anti-air item to allow Stadium players to deal with Freja. Freja has received significant nerfs since her inclusion in Stadium, but the item should give players the option to take Freja down.
Season 17 sees the addition of the most requested Stadium Feature. Stadium Forge allows players to save, share, and import builds. You can access them during your Stadium matches. We no longer need to remember our builds by heart and instead rely on the game telling us what to play. Alongside this, the game will have more suggested builds that new players can choose from to play their favorite characters. A deeper dive into Stadium Forge is coming in the upcoming weeks before the release of Season 17.
Season 17 sees the inclusion of an Unranked mode for Stadium in Overwatch 2. Players who want to play Cross-play with their friends or play purely for fun now can! Unranked will be a shorter form of Stadium. The format is Best-of-Five instead of Best-of-Seven. There is no mercy rule, and players will get their powers in rounds 1, 3, 4, and 5. Stadium Cash will generate faster, matching a similar rate to what you would get in the Competitive mode. Backfill is allowed during Unranked mode. These players get cash based on the stage of the match and can shop before joining.
