After an enthralling first day of OWCS Champions Clash action, day two promised to ramp up. Not only was it high-octane action, but NTMR shocked the world by defeating Crazy Raccoon in the opening series of the day. The defeat was not only Crazy Raccoon’s first series loss to a Western team but also their first-ever map loss. The result caused mayhem for the rest of the bracket.

Crazy Raccoon has never lost a map to a Western team in the OWCS era, making this a mountain to climb for NTMR. Ilios Well ended dominantly for Crazy Raccoon, only having one slip-up fight. Crazy Raccoon was even more dominant on Ruins, with NTMR not having control of the point at any time despite having the advantage at the end. NTMR brought us to the first hybrid map of the tournament, picking King’s Row.

NTMR opened King’s Row with Lethal’s Hanzo taking down Lip’s Ashe. They could never gain full momentum on their attack, but completed the map. Crazy Raccoon mirrored the Hazard composition on their attack and earned momentum on the first point, but struggled to cap the second point before Overtime. Lip and Heesang pushed Crazy Raccoon through the second point, but it was not enough to complete the map. It becomes their first-ever map loss to a Western team.

Junbin’s environmental kill on CuFFa earned Crazy Raccoon an early lead. NTMR stopped the bot right before the checkpoint and slowly chipped away, gaining the checkpoint and generating a significant lead. Crazy Raccoon eventually got to the checkpoint but could not push further, losing to a C9.

CuFFa and zeruhh kept Crazy Raccoon at bay during the Crazy Raccoon’s push on Route 66, forcing them into Overtime caps on the first and second points. Zeruhh’s two-kill pulse bomb ensured Crazy Raccoon could not finish the map. NTMR’s attack push went significantly better, capping the first and second points with plenty of time in the bank. In the final fight of the map, NTMR came out on top, sending Crazy Raccoon to the Lower Bracket. Zeruhh’s unbelievable Tracer play earned him the MVP honor.

Team Falcons Versus Once Again

The first test for Once Again in the OWCS Champions Clash comes in the form of Team Falcons. Ilios is the first battleground of the series. Once Again brings Ruins back, but the wealth of ultimates on the side of Team Falcons closes it out. Team Falcons were firmly in control of Well, only initially losing the first cap but winning every fight to win the map. Once Again took the series to Suravasa, banning the Mauga, forcing Hanbin onto the D.Va or Winston. The most one-sided point went in favor of Team Falcons, but that was the only point they gained on Suravasa. Mew ensured the map ended by sending Hanbin in Primal Rage off the map.

With the series all tied up, Team Falcons takes it to Runasapi. Both teams start on the Mauga composition, with the only difference being Leave on Pharah and Proper on Tracer. Team Falcons took the first fight and got an initial lead, but Once Again responded with a couple of wins in a row to earn a significant lead. Team Falcons managed to garner a slight lead with one minute on the clock. Despite being behind, Once Again won the vital overtime fight to close the gap and win the map.

Team Falcons had a near-perfect defense on Circuit Royal, only losing two fights and stopping the payload less than halfway through the second point. Once Again, they had a stalwart defense, but it was not enough, and Team Falcons took the series to the decider. Esperança is the final battleground for the series. For the longest time, it felt like a runback from Runasapi. Team Falcons won the first fight, but Once Again fought back, gaining the lead. Team Falcons managed to regain the lead and kept hold of it to move to the Winner’s Bracket Final. Once the dust settled, Stalk3r received the MVP for the series.

Crazy Raccoon Versus Virtus.Pro

After NTMR knocked Crazy Raccoon down the Lower Bracket, Crazy Raccoon must find redemption. Lip fell early on Lijiang Control Center to give Virtus.Pro the advantage, but after a composition swap to Winston, Crazy Raccoon claimed the round. Gardens went 99% in favor of Crazy Raccoon before Virtus.Pro gets some footing, using all of their ultimates. Crazy Raccoon bites back and takes Gardens, winning the map in some comfort.

Virtus.Pro takes us to Circuit Royal to gain a foothold in the series. Virtus.Pro scrapped their way through Overtime fights to reach the final point, but got held before capping. Crazy Raccoon gets the ball rolling on the attack but gets stuck at the end of the second point after using five ultimates. Eventually, they cap second and finish the map shortly after.

King’s Row began dominantly for Virtus.Pro, but when they reached the third point, their momentum stagnated. Fortunately, they capped the final point, but only in Overtime. Virtus.Pro controlled King’s Row during their defense, not allowing Crazy Raccoon beyond halfway of the second point, and denied the series sweep. After Max took over maps two and three, Junbin returned to seal out the series for Crazy Raccoon on Esperança. Crazy Raccoon, back on their comfort dive composition, ended the tournament for Virtus.Pro in a five-minute push map. Heesang’s dominance on Pharah and Mei earned him the MVP honor for the series.

Once Again Versus Spacestation Gaming

Spacestation Gaming knocked out a Chinese Team in the OWCS Champions Clash yesterday and must do it again. They face Once Again, the Chinese Number One seed. Spacestation Gaming had some reprieve on Lijiang Night Market, but Once Again controlled the point. Once Again had all the momentum on Control Center and won the first map. Spacestation Gaming took us to King’s Row but could not cap the first point, only making some progress. Once Again won the map with one fight, giving themselves a 2-0 series lead.

Spacestation Gaming fell just short of getting into the third point of Circuit Royal on their attack round. Spacestation Gaming keeps themselves alive in the series, holding Once Again on the first point. Spacestation Gaming did all they could to hold on to the lead they generated at the start of Esperança, but when push came to shove, Once Again clutched out to win the series 3-1, knocking Spacestation Gaming out of the competition. Shy’s dominant Sojourn performance won him the MVP award for the series.

With Crazy Raccoon and Once Again moving past their Western opponents, they meet each other in the Lower-Bracket Semi-Final of the OWCS Champions Clash. Crazy Raccoon chose Ilios for the first map and banned Guxue’s Winston. Ilios is Crazy Raccoon’s playground as they dominate the map, with Once Again barely finding an answer to Junbin’s Wrecking Ball. Once Again fought hard for every fight point on Suravasa, but it was not enough, with Crazy Raccoon constantly finding the edge to win 3-0 on Flashpoint.

Even on Route 66, a favorite map of Once Again, they struggled to stop the push of Crazy Raccoon. Slowly but surely, Crazy Raccoon capped Route 66 with over a minute remaining, something you rarely see in professional matches. Shu’s dominance on Ana continued on Crazy Raccoon’s defense as the team full-held Once Again, eliminating the final Chinese team. Without question, Shu receives the MVP for the series, leading Crazy Raccoon to a dominant victory.
