It is time to rise and shine with the next event in Pokemon GO: Slumbering Sands. In this Pokemon GO Slumbering Sands event guide, we will be going through everything that you need to know for this upcoming adventure.

Pokemon GO Slumbering Sands: June 7 at 10 AM to June 12 at 8 PM local time

Just as the name suggests, the Slumbering Sands event in Pokemon GO features Pokemon that are known to be sleepy!

The Pokemon GO Slumbering Sands event in Pokemon GO will last from June 7 at 10 AM to June 12 at 8 PM local time.

For the entire duration of the Slumbering Sands event, all players can benefit from the 2× XP bonus for catching any Pokemon. Additionally, the event will feature the debuts of certain Pokemon, including a new line of costumed Pokemon and a brand new shiny for the game.

Furthermore, players who have bought themselves a Pokemon Go Plus+ have bonus features for this event as well.

Slumbering Sands Featured Pokemon

The Slumbering Sands event will feature the costumed debuts of the entire Slaking family line. As such, Slakoth, Vigoroth, and Slaking will be wearing a visor for their respective costumed versions. But wait there is more! This event also marks the debut of Shiny Komala.

As for the event-themed wild spawns, here is a list of all the featured Pokemon for the Slumbering Sands event:

• Psyduck
• Slowpoke
• Drowzee
• Mareep
• Slakoth wearing a visor
• Oranguru
• Sandygast
• Munna
• Komala

As usual, all the featured Pokemon that have a shiny form available in the game can be shiny if you are lucky enough.

Event-themed Field Research Tasks Pokemon Rewards

The Slumbering Sands-themed Field Research Tasks during the event will also have the event-themed Pokemon as rewards. As such, here is a list of all the possible encounters you can get by completing the Slumbering Sands-themed Field Research Tasks:

• Psyduck
• Drowzee
• Mareep
• Slakoth wearing a visor
• Oranguru
• Sandygast
• Komala

Additionally, both Slakoth wearing a visor and Komala have boosted shiny odds when encountered through the field research tasks rewards as compared to their respective wild encounters.

Mega Evolved Pokemon for Slumbering Sands

With a good cast of featured Pokemon, there are a lot of choices for which Mega Evolved Pokemon for its bonuses. As such, here are a few suggestions from us:

• Mega Evolve Slowbro for additional candies to Psyduck, Slowpoke, Drowzee, Oranguru, and Munna.
• Mega Evolve either Lopunny, Pidgeot, or Kangaskhan for the Normal-type candy bonus.
• Grab your Primal Kyogre for additional candy bonuses for Psyduck and Mareep.

For players who have a Pokemon GO Plus+, there will be an exclusive Timed Research available if you connect to the device during the Slumbering Sands event.

After pairing your Pokemon GO Plus+ device to your Pokemon GO account, you gain access to this exclusive Timed Research. Completing this Pokemon GO Plus+ exclusive Slumbering Sands Timed Research rewards players with Stardust and more encounters of event-themed Pokemon.

The following Pokemon will be encountered in this Pokemon GO Plus+ exclusive Slumbering Sands Timed Research:

• Slakoth wearing a visor
• Snorlax wearing a nightcap
• Komala

Trainers need to complete this Pokemon GO Plus+ exclusive Slumbering Sands Timed Research and claim the rewards on or before June 14, 2024 at 8 PM local time.

Medals to Grind on Slumbering Sands

Trainers can obtain medals in the game by completing different objectives and reaching predetermined benchmarks. A few of those medals also provide ongoing in-game bonuses.

If the perks weren’t enough to persuade you, players actually do need to collect a certain quantity of medals, specifically the platinum medals which are the highest tier of medals, in order to continue rising up past Level 40. Players must obtain five Platinum Medals to reach Level 43, twenty Platinum Medals to reach Level 47, and thirty Platinum Medals to reach Level 49.

That said, here are the platinum medals players can grind for during this Slumbering Sands event:

Pokedex Medals

Completing Pokedex medals is as easy as registering Pokemon to the Pokedex. Here are the Pokedex medals you can possibly finish during this event:

• Kanto Medal – Register 151 Kanto region Pokemon in the Pokedex (Psyduck, Slowpoke, Drowzee, and their respective evolutions)
• Hoenn Medal – Register 135 Hoenn Region Pokemon in the Pokedex (Mareep, Slakoth, and their respective evolutions)
• Unova Medal – Register 156 Unova Region Pokemon in the Pokedex (Munna and its respective evolution)
• Alola Medal – Register 86 Alola Region Pokemon in the Pokedex (Oranguru, Sandygast, Komala, and their succeeding evolutions)

Pokemon Type Medals

Completing Pokemon type medals is as easy as catching Pokemon of a specific type. Here are the Pokemon-type medals you can grind for during this event:

• Schoolkid Medal – Catch 2,500 Normal-type Pokemon (Slakoth wearing a visor, Oranguru, and Komala)
• Psychic Medal – Catch 2,500 Psychic-type Pokemon (Slowpoke, Drowzee, and Munna)
• Swimmer Medal – Catch 2,500 Water-type Pokemon (Psyduck and Slowpoke)
• Rocker Medal – Catch 2,500 Psychic-type Pokemon (Mareep)
• Ruin Maniac Medal – Catch 2,500 Psychic-type Pokemon (Sandygast)
• Hex Maniac Medal – Catch 2,500 Psychic-type Pokemon (Sandygast)

• Backpacker Medal – Visit 50,000 PokeStops
• Jogger Medal – Walk 10,000 kilometers
• Picknicker Medal – Use a Lure Module to help any trainer catch 2,500 Pokemon
• Triathlete Medal – Achieve a Pokemon catch streak or PokeStop spin streak of seven days 100 times
• Mega Evolution Guru Medal – Mega evolve 36 different Species of Pokemon
• Successor – Mega evolve a Pokemon 500 times
