Pokémon Champions has entered a new season, M-2. Season 2 comes with some major changes that will become important for players competing in ranked battle matches.

According to a report by GameRant, the new season of Pokémon Champions is bringing major changes. However, it should first be clarified that the update is not adding any new Pokémon, items, or moves for free.

Players can, though, earn rewards and Pokémon through the M-2 Battle Pass, including Gengar, Skarmory, and Kangaskhan.

Moving forward, the major change in the game is the reset of the progress made by players during Season M-1. What does this mean for players?

Since Pokémon Champions operates as a live-service title, players will need to start from scratch every season and grind their way back to higher ranks, such as Master Ball Rank.

Players are once again starting from Poké Ball Rank, with Master Ball Rank awarding 10,000 VP. The season is also continuing with Regulation M-A.

In an interview with Famitsu, producer Masaaki Hoshino revealed the reason for not bringing new Pokémon to the roster, stating,

“From a newcomer’s point of view, having a pool of over 1,000 Pokémon and a massive array of items from the start would not only bring confusion in team-building but also create an overwhelming burden.”

Game Producer Reveals The Future of Pokémon Champions

In the same interview, when asked about the availability of new Pokémon, Hoshino stated, “Nothing is decided yet, but I think it’s a possibility.

Currently, the regulations allow for Mega Evolution, but when this switches to a different system, I think we’ll introduce Pokémon that are compatible with that system.”

Hoshino also hinted at the possibility of Legendary Pokémon being added to the game in the future, although he suggested they may not remain available permanently once introduced.

Furthermore, in an interview with GamerBraves, Masaaki Hoshino said the developers are planning to add new battle arenas in the future, along with a feature that would allow players to host their own competitions.

He added that the team is already preparing to make the system a reality.

Although Season M-2 is not as simple as many hoped for, the future of the game is exciting, with the game moving to Regulation M-B in the next season, which is expected to drop on June 17.
