Resident Evil 9 is set to release on February 27 of next year, and gamers (myself included) are freaking pumped for the release. Since releasing a preview of the game and a brand-new trailer at Gamescom, Capcom has slowly been leaving breadcrumb trails for players, which has increased the hype for the game. One leak in particular, concerning Leon’s return in this game, has reported that Leon’s gameplay will focus solely on action. Here are all the details on this leak.

Resident Evil Requiem Sees Leon Return to the Series

It has been reported by several leakers that Leon will make a return to the franchise in Resident Evil 9. This is pretty exciting news if it is true, because Leon is a fan favorite character, and probably one of the most iconic characters within the series. It’s been over a decade since we’ve seen Leon, not counting the Resident Evil 2 and 4 Remakes that came out a couple of years ago, and many circles are buzzing about Leon’s rumored return.

His return would make a lot of sense, since Resident Evil 9 will also return to the town that started it all, Raccoon City. The devs have expressed their desire to return to their roots, especially after Resident Evil Biohazard and Village introduced new characters and storylines within the series. Having Leon return would feel like a full-circle moment for fans, and for people watching to see how the story of this game will unfold. So what role will Leon play in this game this time? According to leakers, Leon’s gameplay will focus on action.

Leon’s Gameplay Focuses on Action

Like always, it is reported that Leon will play the iconic badass who comes to save the day. According to Dusk Golem,

“most (but not all) of Leon’s gameplay is set in 2020, while most (but not all) of Grace’s gameplay is set in 2028.” Moreover, the insider states that Leon will have “greyed hair” in Resident Evil Requiem and his gameplay will have “more action-focus BUT will be more focused on horror & atmospherics”

The dual timelines add depth to this game, which will also focus on psychological fear rather than the action-packed horror the Resident Evil series is known for. Dusk Golem has also heard that Leon will be revealed at the Tokyo Games Show 2025, debuting tomorrow throughout the weekend. Whether any of this is true will be confirmed this weekend, so we’ll be on the lookout for any news and/or confirmations about Leon’s return to Resident Evil 9.
