So, Star Wars Battlefront 3 was trending again—because, of course, it was. If you’ve been on Reddit, Twitter, or anywhere gamers gather, you’ve probably seen the sudden spike in Battlefront 2’s player count and all the wild chatter about a possible sequel. But let’s clear this up: there has been no announcement. No teaser. Not even a whiff of a real update from EA.
So why is everyone talking about it?
It all started with pure social hype. Someone mentions “What if Battlefront 3?” and the internet runs with it like it’s canon. The player base for Battlefront 2 suddenly starts climbing, people start whispering about DICE and Respawn, and boom—we’ve got another rumor spiral.
But as Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming put it:
“Last I heard was that it was likely never going to happen. Even if approved, who would develop it? DICE is now all-in on Battlefield. Could Respawn take it on as Apex Legends winds down? Who knows.”
Translation: there’s no dev, no roadmap, and zero momentum behind this thing. Hope is not a strategy.
The noise got so loud that even Mats Holm, a former Battlefront 2 developer, jumped in on Reddit to temper expectations:
“I don’t expect Battlefront 3 to be announced at the end of this rally. But overall, yeah, I think there are people who are talking about it.”
He also added that most of the core team from Battlefront 2 have moved on from DICE. So even if EA wanted to greenlight the sequel, they’d be starting from scratch.
As expected, EA hasn’t commented. And honestly? They probably won’t. Most attempts to get a response have gone unanswered, and it’s unlikely they’ll address a viral rumor without anything concrete behind it.
As for that Battlefront 3 petition? Yes, it’s real. Over 10,000 signatures. But as history tells us, that’s nowhere near enough to move EA or Disney’s decision-making mountains.
We get the hype. We do. But for now, Battlefront 3 is more dream than destiny. Unless someone at EA pulls a surprise out of hyperspace, fans might want to dial expectations back to a more reasonable system.
