The Dreamlight Valley Mysteries of Skull Rock update released on all platforms today, June 18, 2025. When you launch the game on your preferred platform, the update will be available for installation. This one took a minute! There’s a lot to this one, so let’s jump in!

New Villagers

Two new villagers are joining you in the Dreamlight Valley Mysteries of Skull Rock update. We all guessed Peter Pan since knowing we’re unlocking Skull Rock, but the welcome surprise is The Forgotten! They have the key to exploring Skull Rock and, as you work together, you’ll get to give them a new name and a home. Since they’ll be a full-fledged villager now, they can accompany you, and they’ll have friendship quests and rewards! It’s so nice to see them getting attention finally. If you haven’t already completed the main story quests, you will have to do that before moving on to this part.

Animal Companions Get an Upgrade

It’s always been fun to have an animal companion adventuring with you, but with the Dreamlight Valley Mysteries of Skull Rock update, they’re about to become helpers! You can name companions that don’t already have a name (like Pua from Moana). And, they can provide additional benefits like more inventory space as they gain friendship levels! Your critter friends have friendship levels, and they can gather bonus resources for you. For example, squirrels will gather fruit, and turtles will gather seafood! Here’s the full list, courtesy of the DDV patch notes:

  • Squirrels > Fruits
  • Rabbits > Vegetables
  • Turtles > Seafood
  • Sunbirds > Flowers
  • Foxes and Crocodiles > Fish
  • Raccoons & Whimsical Creatures > Gems
  • Ravens > Soils
  • Capybaras, Snakes, & Monkeys > Timebending Parts
  • Owls, Baby Dragons, & Pegasi > Snippets
  • Dogs > Sticks

Haha! Dogs gathering sticks. Classic. Some special animal companions may have unique rewards at their max friendship levels. We’ll be watching for that, and we’ll share the details when we’ve found all of the rewards! And, in a quality of life improvement, specific animal companions will be in their own Collections section.

More Updates!

Do you have a favorite house? Want to put one in every single expansion area and floating island? Now you can! Use that house over and over. Go ahead. You bought it! And, while you’re redecorating, the patch notes mention an “expanded grid.” We’ll have to see that in-game, but they say we’ll be able to do more customization when decorating. Finally, have you ever wanted to make a diagonal path with those cute path tiles? Go do it! We can now go between straight and diagonal mode. Time to redecorate everywhere!

You know when you get a memory orb and you click it, then a coin pops out? So frustrating. No more of that! Memories drop memory shards now. Every. Time. Until you complete the memories from that activity, that is. Hooray! Photo modes are getting updates too. There are more options for editing them, and you can take photos while… SITTING DOWN! We’re shocked and excited.

It’s easier to use the uncrafting station. It will cost you less Dreamlight. And PlayStation players can now access their save on any supported device! Congratulations, PlayStation folks. That’s great news! Also, check Scrooge’s store for new stuff.

Neverland Star Path

A new Star Path is here with the Dreamlight Valley Mysteries of Skull Rock update. There are pirate and mermaid items, fashions, and cosmetics to unlock for you and your decor. Goofy and Minnie Mouse have new appearances available, too. There’s a cute pirate monkey companion, a Lost Boys Skunk Onesie for you, and even a rainbow decoration!

As always, 2,500 Moonstones unlock the premium Star Path items. There isn’t a section for bonus items this time. So, it’s fewer rewards and probably fewer duties overall as well.

Coming Soon!

The Troves of Treasure event is coming in July. There will be treasure maps, riddles, and nautical-themed rewards.

July 9, 2025, will bring the finale for The Storybook Vale expansion with Aurora and Maleficent finally arriving as villagers.

The Summer Sizzle event is coming back in August with new rewards. That’s the one with the marshmallows.

There’s so much to do in the Disney Dreamlight Valley Mysteries of Skull Rock update! We’ll be busy for a while, and then more content is arriving! We have a lot to look forward to!
