Silent Hill f Actor Felt Like She was Going Crazy During Recording

Silent Hill f has had an amazing run since releasing a few weeks ago. With selling one million copies of the game in just four days to receiving an 86 Metacritic score, the game was mostly well recieved by players and critics alike. However, it hasn’t been a completely riveting experience for some of the actors who voiced these iconic characters. Here’s what Konatsu Kato, voice actor for Hinako Shimizu, has to say about her experience voice acting for the titular character.

Silent Hill f Voice Actor Konatsu Kato Relays Her Experience With Hinako

Konatsu Kato is the Japanese voice actor for Hinako Shimizu, the main protagonist of Silent Hill f. Her acting really immersed players in the role of Hinako, and you can tell how immersed Kato was in playing Hinako herself. However, that incredible acting came at a pretty big cost to Kato. According to some interviews Kato had done for the Silent Hill f, playing as Hinako was mentally draining the longer she recorded as Hinako.

Kato goes on to explain how there was a mental and physical demand to voice Hinako. Hinako’s journey throughout the game gets progressively darker. Reflecting on her work, Kato explains that she sometimes confuses her own life with Hinako’s, or even wonders about Hinako as if she were a real person. Kato also says she’d never want to meet Hinako in person, or she’ll feel like she’d lose her mind. Here are a few excerpts from the interview, which explain Kato’s state of mind throughout production:

“I’ve been living as Hinako in the world of Silent Hill for a long time now,”

“On some days, I almost felt my own sanity slipping, but it was worth it to be able to contribute to this game.”

 “What am I? What is Hinako doing now? Where?”

“There were times when I would burst into tears without even thinking about anything. The more time I spent facing Hinako, the more my confusion grew. I remember there were days when I felt like I was going crazy.”
