Silent Hill f made its full debut last week, and it was an immediate success. From scoring an 87 Metacritic score to selling one million copies in the first four days of launch, Konami has had a successful run for this game, and it’s only been a week. However, the game has caught some ire from fans, dividing opinions as some people are not all on board with the added combat system that has actually made the game a bit more difficult, and producers of the game have a lot to say about it.
Though Silent Hill f has captivated fans with its alarming visuals and intricate storylines, fans are divided about the new combat system that was introduced in the game. The dodge-and-parry system that is an integral part of Silent Hill f’s gameplay turned some players off, with its high difficulty and souls-like feel to it. Some were pretty content with the gameplay and the added action of the game, while others felt it didn’t feel like a Silent Hill game at all. But what does producer Motoi Okamoto have to say about it?
Essentially, Okamoto clears the air for players who have reservations about the future of the Silent Hill series. Okamoto explains,
“that doesn’t mean every future Silent Hill will be like Silent Hill f.”
“Each one will have its own distinct flavor. We want to keep experimenting and be ambitious, both in terms of gameplay design and storytelling, so please look forward to the next Silent Hill as well.”
“I believe psychological stories are essential to what makes Silent Hill feel like ‘Silent Hill,’ and we’ll continue to place great importance on that in future works as well.”
With the release of Silent Hill f, the future looks bright for this beloved series. Players have to stop and smell the roses, enjoy a game for the sake of playing a video game, and celebrate that Silent Hill devs and producers are taking risks and being ambitious with these new installments.
