Silent Hill f is the newest installment of the Silent Hill series and the first original story since Silent Hill: Downpour back in 2012.  On top of all that, the Silent Hill 2 Remake that debuted last year gained a lot of love and praise from players and critics, receiving an 86 Metacritic score. With the release of Silent Hill f, the game has nabbed the # 3 spot rating in the series, with a score of 85, tied with Silent Hill 3. Here are all the details on this new installment.

Silent Hill f Metascore of 85

Silent Hill f is set to release tomorrow; however, it has been available in early access for the last couple of days. Many gamers have gotten to experience the unsettling horror of this brand-new story and have received quite positive reviews of the game. Games editor Oscar Taylor-Kent gave it a 4 out of 5, praising the immersive atmosphere of the game and the beautiful design of monsters.

Other notable critic reviews come from Dexerto and Inverse, giving the game full marks (5 out of 5 and a 10 out of 10, respectively). Dexerto says, “Like Silent Hill 2, f has psychological twists that make it as unforgettable and deeply affecting.” Additionally, Inverse calls it “a gloriously grisly return for the legendary horror series”. However, some harsher critics out there don’t think this game compares to previous installments.

Silent Hill f is a Fun Game, Trust

Though the game has received mostly positive reviews, some critics have dished out a lot of criticism of Silent Hill f. IGN and Techradar Gaming have given the lowest scores recorded for the game so far. IGN gave it a 7 out of 10, calling out the new combat system for the game as annoying and not at all fun or scary. Techradar Gaming gave it a 3 out of 10, also calling out the difficult combat system.

In some regard, I can understand the ire people have about the combat system of this game. It is hella difficult, trying to figure out the dodge system, and when best to use heavy attacks and your regular ones. However, when I played it, it heightened the horror for me. The difficulty of the game paired well with the horror aspect, and I was pleasantly surprised with it. The game is crazy fun, and I have such a blast uncovering the story of the game while fighting the uniquely grotesque creatures that haunt the town. At least for me, this game is a 10 out of 10.
