If you’re a huge fan of SOMA and the Amnesia titles (you aren’t? No, you are, no questions!) and are bemoaning the fact that they aren’t on the current gen consoles, then no more fears! Outside of the Amnesia ones, at least. If you remember, Frictional Games announced back in January that they had every intention of bringing these games to the Nintendo Switch!

SOMA will be the first on the list to be added to the Switch library, and in even better news, Switch 2 owners will be able to play it as well!

Those Who Don’t Know

In case you’re one of the young ones who came after SOMA, then let’s go over what’s going on in the game. Let’s just say that SOMA will have you question existence and what it means to be human.

This masterpiece of a game was originally on PC and came out in 2015 (yes, 10 years ago). The players wake up in PATHOS-II, an underwater facility that’s seen better days, and the only thing to welcome you are robots who seem too human to be A.I. and a mysterious growth that’s infected almost everything ( and has a nasty temper).

You now have to navigate the facility towards the only thing that could possibly save you, something called The Ark, with the help of a useful device that knows the ins and outs of the facility. Which, she should, she’s one of the creators (dun dun dun)!

Even the Critic Agrees

SOMA became widely known for its narrative and the unsettling atmosphere that made many gamers jump at perceived jump scares. Even holding court with other great games on Metacritic with a score of 84, and became a thriller that redefined the genre.

It became the game that gamers all refer back to when it comes to thriller games, and often make comparisons (it’s like a standard now).

Now that it’s on Switch, we can enjoy the wonderful existential crisis on the go and share it even more!
