Streets of Rogue 2 is an upcoming open-world sandbox game, developed by Matt Dabrowski and published by TinyBuild. As part of the recent TinyBuild Connect livestream, the team put out a new trailer for the game, entitled “Paradise”. The short clip gave players a new look at gameplay and what to expect of the chaotic, procedurally developed world. The game is expected to be released to early access on Steam at some point in 2025.

Streets of Rogue 2 is, simply put, absolutely chaotic. Even in the trailer, the developer offers comedy through narration that, in part, states, “Or reconnect with nature and… what the **** is going on here? Oh, come on. We did what, like, 12 takes today? Can’t you keep this game in check for 60 seconds? And what in God’s name is this? We do one more take after this, and then I’m done. This is unbelievable. And we still don’t have a release date?… Certainly before GTA 6.” I mean, if the dialogue is any indication, we are in for an incredibly exciting ride.

The concept for Streets of Rogue 2 is relatively simple. As IGN sums it up, it is a “Chaotic open-world sandbox RPG where players must topple a corrupt president of a massive, procedurally generated country, solo or in co-op.” In practice, though, this is far, far more unruly of a task. The full Steam page description paints an image of exactly what is about to happen.

Streets of Rogue 2 is a procedurally generated open-world game about player choice, freedom, and anarchic fun. The game takes inspiration from open-world and crafting / survival titles ranging from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to Grand Theft Auto to Valheim to Stardew Valley, with an emphasis on streamlined and fast-paced gameplay. It also adds the free-form, experimentation-driven, emergent elements of RPGs like Deus Ex to create a true sandbox experience.

The game is set in a huge and seamless randomly generated world filled with cities, forests, islands, caves, and the occasional cannibal outpost. You are free to explore and create your own story as you please, whether that means gaining fame and glory through your good deeds throughout the land, forming a small-but-loyal army of miscreants who stage a government takeover, or getting rich with a farming empire.

Streets of Rogue 2 is a game where anything can happen, and probably will!

The developer also highlights some of the key and exciting features of Streets of Rogue 2 that make the game exciting and unique. Some of these highlights include high customizability, the ability for players to play however they choose, endless replayability factors, online co-op modes, multiple playable classes, and a massive collection of items, vehicles, and AI. The game offers to provide a sandbox experience that players can constantly come back to for hours of entertainment. There is a demo available now for those who want to dive into the messy fray.
